Arrived at noon on our third visit after previous good experiences However on this occasion we waited over ten minutes to purchase a drink at the bar and were ignored as locals came in after us and a party were booked in Our polite requests were ignored as four regulars were served even though we arrived at the bar five... Went to this pub twice during a stay at a local cottage and was really impressed. The locals were very friendly, always happy to have a chat. On the second visit we ate in the bar and had really great local food - the steak and ale pie was home made and packed full of meat. The ales were great... More

the inn itself is rather small and the dining room was like sitting in your Grandma's parlour. However there is beautiful views over the North Yorkshire moors. The menu is not to exhaustive but plenty of choice. The service was ok but it would have been nice if the waitress had been a bit chatty or more friendly. The food... More

Stopped by for refreshments, whilst on a walk around the Danby area. Ainthorpe is a small quiet hamlet/village, within walking distance of Danby. The Inn sits on a lovely spot. There is a small car park right in front of the Inn, plus a long strip of grass with picnic tables. The Inn does B&B and rents out a cottage... More

We were attending a wedding locally and the wedding party rented the Inn's cottage for two nights, the first of which (Thursday) was for the groom and friends and the second (Friday) for my extended family. When we arrived we were told that, because the change of occupiers had necessitated a clean of the cottage and changes of bed linen... More

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting family in the area. We had a very pleasant, clean room at the back, lovely big bed, and comfortable. En suite could do with updating, but was clean and lots of hot water (always a bonus) We ate in the restaurant on both evenings, with our family, and we all found the... More

We called in on a busy Friday evening and were very pleased that we could find a table although we hadn't pre booked. The menu offered some really interesting options and we chose haddock goujons and the mushroom and tarragon pate to start, followed by the swordfish and the venison medallions. The main course dishes were slightly overdone but we... More

On a visit to Danby we decided to venture out to the Fox and Hounds Inn. A lovely cosy welcoming place with a roaring fire. Which seems very popular with both locals and visitors alike. The food was delicious. The drinks were very reasonably priced too. We felt so comfortable here that we stayed for about 5 hours! We must... More

This is the second time my family and I have stayed in Hillsover cottage attached to The Fox and Hounds. There are 7 of us and whilst the cottage looks small there is plenty of room so were not on top of each other! It is clean and very well kitted out to ensure a comfortable break. We are self...
