Comfortable room with plenty of space. Big beds gave us a good nights sleep. Good food in the restaurant and great beer in the bar. Overall a good experience that would have been great but we were let down by the room having crisps on the floor and one of the saucers was dirty

from the front its just another little village pub but looks are deceiving! Drive up the long drive, past the bowling green, and enter the large car park. It's all "back to front" and as you walk into the hotel reception area you wonder where the pub is! Very changed by the new owners, completely re-decorated light and airy . We had Sunday... More

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power festival at Cholmondeley Castle. The first thing that greets you is the long driveway which certainly enhances the look of the place. When in the grounds there are lots of little quaint rooms in a two tier buildings annexed to the Inn/hotel itself. On entering the room... More

"Excellent venue for our daughter's wedding." Everything was perfect we couldn't fault anything. nothing was too much trouble for Mark and Emma the proprietors. The food was piping hot and loads of it. We had tomato soup or pate' for starters, full roast beef dinner for main course with apple pie or Cheshire Farmhouse ice cream for dessert. By we... More

After visiting this pub before for a meal, I really wanted to go back and stay for a night to sample a Fillet steak and a lot more of the ales! We drove up on the Saturday afternoon and had a great afternoon/evening sampling the Ales and Ciders at the bar, and chatting to the staff, who were great. We... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Andy and Emma welcome you to, the Hanmer Arms. A country village inn with excellent food and friendly service. Situated in the small rural village of Hanmer, it is conveniently placed for many sights, on the edge of Shropshire, North Wales and Cheshire. It makes for a great overnight stop or short break. We are close to Bangor on Dee Races, and Iscoyd Park wedding venue. Our large bar lounge has an open fire and a log burner, pool table, darts and dominoes. Eight hand pulled Cask Marque accredited ales and ciders that change regularly and a wide selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks we also have Wrexham lager on draught. Our Kitchen team, produce great menus from local seasonal ingredients, with bar nibbles and pub grub to more complicated dishes, all made in house by our talented chefs. We have a very popular Sunday Carvery served 12-4pm and we can also cater for large functions and events in our upstairs function suite and roof terrace. We have 11 ensuite rooms, the converted stable block is at the side of the original building over looking the beer garden. The rooms are twins or doubles and have t.v's and tea and coffee facilities. Wifi is available in the main building and due to our rural location mobile phone signal is limited, which is great when you want to escape from the 'modern' world. ... more   less
