Have been to this place before and enjoy coming back as it is quite and relaxing. Apartment style so lots of space. Within walking distance to the Mountain which is another extinct volcano. One of at least 58 on New Zealand. 48 are still current. Close walking distance to restaurants.

stayed for 2 nights in a studio on the second floor. The room was exceptionally clean but much smaller than expected. The bathroom has a very deep spa bath which was fantastic. There was a washing machine and a dryer in the room although I had no need to use them. Unfortunately the walls are very thin and you could... More

I have stayed in this resort a few times now, a couple of key things that you need to be aware of, firstly the wifi is only limited to the reception area and maybe a couple of rooms close to reception. The rooms whilst quite spacious are a bit dated in comparison to other resorts close buy, however, the staff... More

Unfortunately what was supposed to be a special girls night with my 7 yr old daughter ended up being less than satisfactory. There were some niggles like a panel heater in the room not working, the electric blanket didn't heat etc. The main issue was during the night when there was a lot of disturbance, loud voices and running around... Stayed here a few weeks ago with a group of people. Apartments were all lovely, extremely spacious, comfortable, well- equipped and clean. The location is central with Mt Maunganui right outside the front door, a lovely surf beach one side and a calm harbour on the other. I plan to return.

I also booked this online and the pictures looked great. However, the real thing was not. I booked a unit with 1 bedroom. Everything look old and tired. Certainly not the luxury resort which is on the street sign. It felt and looked grubby. I found rubbish behind the bin which was not ours so the unit had not been... More

We booked a two bedroom apartment for two adults and two children. These apartments are huge with lots of space for everyone. Our room was clean and tidy and, after reading previous reviews, I was expecting it to be "tired" but it wasn't. We had a couple of minor issues - one with the dishwasher and a lamp that didn't... We chose this property for its location and because we were able to get a decent rate per night. It definitely has a great location, across the road from the hot pools and the Mount and an easy 5 minute walk to the shops & cafes. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was a decent size. The room and... More

We booked this online, and I wish I had checked this website first, as I would never of stayed here. Our room was on the second floor, the bedroom wall backed onto to the external corridor & also lift, it had a window with wooden blinds which did not fit the window properly so you couldn't have the complete window... Thsi is the second time we have stayed at the Calais. First time in a studio apartment. This time in a 1 bedroom. We found the apartment very dark. Not enough lighting, especially over the bench. Shower door we could not shut.Jammed.Toilet seat when turned to reach toilet paper the seat came with you.I think a bit of maintenance would make these apartments... More
