Booked last minute & read the reviews so decided that it was good enough to go, all I can say is that we couldn't fault anything, the room was very good with excellent views across the Moor, with a variety of walks from there, the evening meal was superb & the breakfast was certainly not disappointing with the bacon &... When we booked we thought the room rate was a little high but there was no extra charge for our dog and you get a self-contained "cottage" just a few paces from the back door of the Inn itself. Warm and comfortable, big bed, TV and radio alarm. Breakfast was quality, better than we've experienced in much pricier hotels. Jill... More

Booked this last minute when the weather forecast promised sunshine and were delighted to discover a first rate base for Dartmoor visiting. We stayed in Cox Tor...smallish room, but well converted from old outbuildings, and very well presented, and with an extremely comfortable kingsize bed. Cosy public bar and good restaurant were very welcome after a day's walking and breakfast... More

We arrived in this remote, location just as darkness was falling. We were greeted with a warm welcome and shown our cottage 'The Old Smithy'. Good sized room, with decent sized en-suite & power shower! The tea & coffee making facilities were generous, with enough milks and tea bags to last us (we like our tea!!) We decided to eat... More

This amazing pub restaurant combines cosiness with well presented, good food with more formal or casual surroundings as you wish depending on which side of the cleverly divided premises you choose to sit, great hosts and staff and charming comfortable accommodation. Cannot fault it.

We recently spent 3 nights at the Mary Tavy Inn, staying in the Brentor room. The Brentor room has an excellent view across the valley and moorland which was a treat. The room was reasonably sized with a very large bed (2 singles pushed together). The en-suite was a little cramped but had a good shower cubicle. Overall the room... More

As a former resident of the village and local in the pub it's always interesting to come back and visit old haunts. 15 years have passed and The Mary Tavy Inn has changed in many ways. I enjoyed my meal there and found the prices to be on a par with other pubs and certainly not destined to break the... More

We called into this pub for tea today. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised upon entering as it's actually much nicer than outside impressions give. There were a handful of other diners in and the waitress was attentive and pleasant. Two of us ordered the home cooked ham sandwiches, one without butter and the third of our... More
