We stayed two nights in the comfortable benabs (cabins) that are laid out along the shore of the Essequibo River. This is a beautiful setting in a clearing along the river bank (near some rapids) and surrounded by deep jungle. We saw over sixty species of birds in the two days we stayed here. Phenomenal! Our Iwokrama guide Kevin, aided... More

I stayed at Iwokrama River Lodge in Guyana in September 2014, my fourth Lodge in eight days and the only one to have hot water and more luxury than the others. It was a welcome relief after days without electricity. I highly recommend Iwokrama River Lodge as it's a bit of comfort in very interesting surroundings by a beautiful lake.... More

Iwokrama River Lodge offers a very unique experience. One of the best you'll ever have. It gives guests the opportunity to experience the thick jungle with the help and safe watch of experienced guides. The stay is one you won't soon forget, the cabins being very tourist friendly and the staff always able to accommodate. Not only is Iwokrama a... More

The accommodation was very good, but the wild life is quite poor and the guide was uninterested in a wild nature. This hotel is suitable for families with a children but it can be a bit boring for the people who are interesting in a wild life.

Iwokrama was kind enough to donate to our organization the Global Shapers-Georgetown Hub in kind by allowing us to stay there while on route to another region for some charity work. The grounds were perfectly manicured, the river view was beautiful, the staff kind and professional. Mr. Bart kept us well entertained with discussion and interior story telling of wild... More

Iwokrama was a magnificent experience. Not the easiest place to get to, but worth it. Great food, amazing guides who know their birds, and a low-impact operation. An important point is that the money you spend there contributes to conservation of the amazing biodiversity of the area and to the livelihood of the local Amerindian population. This is the way... Iwokrama River Lodge is a fantastic area to visit if you want a taste of the jungle. I volunteered at the centre for 2 weeks and spent my last few days as a tourist with family. It is a bit of a trek to get to and I must warn of the the road down as it is extremely bumpy... More

If you're adventurous and you love nature, then Iwokrama is the place to be! I've been there with a research team "Operation Wallacea" and we've spent 4 days at the River lodge; it was truly a great experience. The staff members were friendly and the meals were great. The River Lodge is rich in biodiversity (it has lots of different... More

There are few tropical forests on Earth where you can enjoy such a sense of awe at so much biodiversity. Combining research and ecotourism facilities in a perfect setting on the river bank of the great Essequibo River, Iwokrama River Lodge is the perfect place to spend a few days or a few months (worthwhile if you consider writing a... Our group of 36 Visited Iwokrama River Lodge in Mid April. Wow! what an Idyllic place. Although quite difficult to get to after a long bumpy and dusty ride from Surama, the staff were there to welcome us with refreshments and an inviting smile. After a tasty lunch followed by a much need shower in our basic but comfortable cabins,... More
