Stayed there during our second trip to Guyana and enjoyed it. Large spacious rooms, good food, friendly staff, knowledgeable guides and a lot of things to do. Or.,.just relax in the main lodge with a view on the Essequibo river. Hike on the Turtle Mountain is worth all the effort.

Whether you are looking for a relaxing time or an educational experience, Iwokrama has it all. The staff is super professional and friendly and the food was very good and in keeping with the local fare. I heartily recommend spending some time on the Essequibo river and the Turtle Mountain hike. The accommodations were surprisingly luxurious for being in the... More

This is a special place. The birding is great. The river rides are fantastic. Lodge is very accommodating. Views to die for. The staff gave us personal attention. Food was good. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed.

We stayed two nights in the comfortable benabs (cabins) that are laid out along the shore of the Essequibo River. This is a beautiful setting in a clearing along the river bank (near some rapids) and surrounded by deep jungle. We saw over sixty species of birds in the two days we stayed here. Phenomenal! Our Iwokrama guide Kevin, aided... More

I stayed at Iwokrama River Lodge in Guyana in September 2014, my fourth Lodge in eight days and the only one to have hot water and more luxury than the others. It was a welcome relief after days without electricity. I highly recommend Iwokrama River Lodge as it's a bit of comfort in very interesting surroundings by a beautiful lake.... More

Iwokrama River Lodge offers a very unique experience. One of the best you'll ever have. It gives guests the opportunity to experience the thick jungle with the help and safe watch of experienced guides. The stay is one you won't soon forget, the cabins being very tourist friendly and the staff always able to accommodate. Not only is Iwokrama a... More

The accommodation was very good, but the wild life is quite poor and the guide was uninterested in a wild nature. This hotel is suitable for families with a children but it can be a bit boring for the people who are interesting in a wild life.

Iwokrama was kind enough to donate to our organization the Global Shapers-Georgetown Hub in kind by allowing us to stay there while on route to another region for some charity work. The grounds were perfectly manicured, the river view was beautiful, the staff kind and professional. Mr. Bart kept us well entertained with discussion and interior story telling of wild... More

Iwokrama was a magnificent experience. Not the easiest place to get to, but worth it. Great food, amazing guides who know their birds, and a low-impact operation. An important point is that the money you spend there contributes to conservation of the amazing biodiversity of the area and to the livelihood of the local Amerindian population. This is the way... Iwokrama River Lodge is a fantastic area to visit if you want a taste of the jungle. I volunteered at the centre for 2 weeks and spent my last few days as a tourist with family. It is a bit of a trek to get to and I must warn of the the road down as it is extremely bumpy... More
