Shortly before arriving in El Fuerte on the Chepe train, we made friends with a couple from Canada – their car was parked at their hotel in El Fuerte, while our rental car was parked at the train station, so we all piled into our rental car (thankfully, untouched!!) and went to the LA CHOZA hotel – there was room... Been to El Fuerte over two dozen times in the last 6 years. I've stayed in all of nicer hotels in town and now stay exclusively at Hotel la Choza. Clean rooms. Good heating and air conditioning. Run by a very nice family. Friendly, long time staff. Has one of the best resturants in town.

I paid $35/night (walk-up rate--if you use booking.com, it'll be much more expensive) for a huge, extremely comfortable room. Accepts credit cards. A/C. Wifi. Great showers with unlimited hot water. Pool. Decent restaurant onsite. Right across the street from the Plaza Mayor. Tours available from reception--the petroglyphs are a must. Outstanding option for what is a very quaint, enjoyable little... More

Stayed one night & day but sorry we didn't stay longer. Hotel was romantic lovely and are planning to go back in the fall. For the price we think it was well worth the stay. Restaurant was absolutely wonderful. Food excellent!!!

Arriving from Los Mochis without any reservations, a brief walk through the historic centre turned up several unsuitable candidates (hint: gambling machines in the lobby are a bad sign) before a friendly local girl pointed the way to La Choza. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, allowing inspection of the room before committing. And here's the hotel's strong point -... More

Not staying at the hotel but stopped in for lunch for two reasons. One, El Fuerte has few dining locations in Centro that have a decent ambience and two, its air conditioned. Located on the Zocalo so great location. Mexican themed interior, comfortable seating arrangement, linen service (oops sound to snobbish for us but its a nice touch). Ordered cervezas... More

This was a really nice hotel room. People treat me nicely and the food at the restaurant was seriously great! The pool looks nice and the rooms were clean. I would recommend it for ever and ever! They serve really nice coffee, chilaquiles and toast.

We sadly haven't managed to stay here yet, but have eaten here 3 or 4 times now. We love the food, the restaurant is medium sized, very nicely decorated, very clean and the staff are fantastic. The food and drinks are great, a good choice with very good portions. It's right on the main square, you can't miss it. Give... More

I'm here on a LIGA medical mission. The people here are great. I couldn't ask for better accommodations and the bar/restaurant has taken well care of me. After reading some of the reviews it makes me wonder what kind of expectation you could ask for. I feel blessed.

We stayed here last March, on our way to (and from) the Copper Canyon. Beautiful place, decent price ($700 pesos/night) right on the zocolo in El Fuerte, good restaurant, good staff. except the manager had zero personality. Seemed like a family member, stuck here managing this hotel, he looked totally bored the entire time. But, he did arrange the taxi... More
