We were staying at another hotel, in the morning got up and walked around the lovely colonial town of El Fuerte, saw the main Plaza, found an ATM, walked up to the fort and ended up having coffee in the Posada del Hidalgo Hotel, where Zorro was supposedly born! Gorgeous hotel with a beautiful outdoor terrace with views over the... More

This hotel met or exceeded our every expectation. When we arrived, the Zorro show was unfortunately almost over. But we could tell by the large tour group that was there enjoying it that it would have been a good time. We got checked in which was easy enough and then went exploring the municipal palace and the Zocalo square while... More

By staying in this lovely hotel , You'll have a great experience just by exploring the different mansions that make The Posada Del Hidalgo hotel, the gardens are full of flowers all year around and the food is the best in town.

This was our group launching point for Copper Canyon. Less than four miles from the hotel you can board the train that will take you to Copper Canyon. The Hotel lies in a small Mexican town of El Fuerte. The town is full of traditional Colonial Mexican architecture from the adjacent fo/museum to the cathedral, mission and nearby town square.... We stayed here on our way to Copper Canyon as part of a tour with Superior Tours Puerto Vallarta. For those who like old style Mexican hacienda architecture, this place is for you. Most guests spent more time exploring the property taking pictures than time spent at the pool/bar. Guests were everywhere taking pictures, and with good reason. The place... More

We stayed here twice on our trip, one night on the way to Creel and one on our return so stayed in different parts of the hotel both times. The old Hacienda area room was the most charming while a bit small and dark but there is such a lovely outdoor courtyard you don't stay in your room anyway except... More

We stopped here as part of a tour. Rooms in each section are a little different ..clean and full of charm. All meals here were excellent, as was the service. The Zorro show was funny, and lots of fun. There is a Zorro room.

No food, sorry, although restaurant still had diners & surely there must have been 2 pieces of bread, a chunk of cheese & some fruit! The surroundings were delightful & next morning's breakfast was more than adequate...we saw humming birds (from NZ) for the first time....the little town surrounding was clean & lovely to look at. The wifi worked for... More
