This wonderful building is beautiful. No TV, no Wi-Fi, it is a place for relaxing and enjoying gardens, furniture and vintage decoration. The service is kind. Great food and beverages. Looking forward to be back.

We left DF to go see the Barrancas del Cobre. Upon arrival in Los Mochis, we were taken to our first hotel, Posada del Hidalgo in El Fuerte. This hotel belongs to the Balderrama chain. As such, it is supposed to be a high class hotel. And it most certainly is. We were impressed with the quality of the different... More

What a great historical hotel to rest in after the Copper Canyon Chepe train ride. Great staff, fun happy hour with Zorro showing up. Beautiful patios under the palapas. Walking distance to the museum, plaza and river. Beautiful city!

The hotel is nice, the gardens are very , well keept, rooms are very different the ones at the upper part are newer and smaller, the ones at the bottom part are bigger but older. We were given room number 3( at the oldest área) I think, and it was in front of a school but was not that noisy,... More

Large and spacious room for visitors. The windows are close to the street so choose your room as far as possible to avoid noise and get some privacy. WIFI internet is available only in the lobby , not inside the rooms. The lobby bar is very nice and you can have breakfast or dinner at the restaurant, which is one... More

This was the last stop on our Chepe trip and we were expecting a beautiful closing. To our unpleasant surprise, we were given a room right in front of the restaurant & bar, supposedly the "last" room since they were over-booked. The room was dark, the bathroom dirty and the toilet did not flow, no chair to sit on, no... More

This hotel was beautiful. The service was very good, and it was like a museum. We thought it was just so charming, and nice. The food was very good at the restaurant too. I would highly recommend this hotel with a few suggestions.

We stayed here with a group tour and arrived dark and left before sunrise. Everyone was so disappointed that we couldn't spent more time wandering the grounds and enjoying the décor. The hotel has done an excellent job acquiring furniture and art that accentuates the historic architecture. The Zorro show was a little cheesy, but fun. The drinks and dinning... More

My wife, small baby and I stayed one night at this hotel while we were on our Chepe trip. We had a terrible experience despite of the nice hotel. We were travelling with a tour and since we had the baby with us it took us a while to arrive to the booking desk. When we finally did, they offered... More

We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip to the Copper Canyon. The building is amazing, very old and beautiful. The staff went above and beyond, we had left something at our hotel in Divisadero and they made arrangements for a guest to bring it on the train to El Fuerte. And happy hou with Zorro is... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Posada del Hidalgo is a beautiful colonial mansion. This attractive structure was built in 1890 by Don Rafael Almada, a wealthy and influential "alcalde" (mayor) who spent five years and 100,000 gold pesos on its construction. The wooden trim was made from 285 Canadian red pine beams. Don Rafael's mansion was the largest and most beautiful in El Fuerte. It was built just below the old fort, and has four layers of brick and adobe construction. The iron work was brought from Mazatlan. ... more   less
