Clean, good location (rustic, mountain lodge) and there are also shorter hikes in the area. A couple of restaurants with not much choice on the menu - we ate up the road and also at the hotel - they provide transport to the start of the Gorge included in the price and are very helpful. Dinner is usually early and... More

Stayed 2 days in october. Clean, good homecoocked food, transportation to the start of your hiking path. And first of all: you will meet people who walks and wants to svare their experiences. And goes to bed at 9 ;-) So if you plan to explore the Lefka Ori, this is the place to start !

Welcoming hotel and staff, providing a shuttle to the entrance of the Samaria park - central hiking starting point. Sufficient breakfast (included in room's rate), clean room with a balcony, bathroom a bit small. Good value.

This rustic mountain lodge is the place to come for hiking the local trails and especially the Samarian Gorge. Rooms are clean and simple, just the basics (no way to heat water in your room) but the view from your balcony makes up for the lack of amenities. Just 4 km from the park gate, you can get an early... More

We found this hotel to be a very welcome warm and comfortable place after arriving after dark on the local bus. Everything was very pleasant and George, the owner, was most helpful and accommodating when we wanted to change our plans because of the deterioration of the weather. Excellent food and great value for money.

The owner of this hotel knows what real hospitality is. Knows all about walking in the region. Has a free shuttle - service to the entrance of the Samariagorge. Simple restaurant with genuine Greek food. Highly recommended.

My husband and I spent 16 days in Crete at the end of the summer. We picked this destination because we equally love the sea and the mountains and Crete has both. Being the first trip on this island, we decided on our itinerary before leaving, took notes about public transport and booked our rooms in advance. Once there, all... More

They brought us to the Samaria Gorge with their bus without charging us. Very affordable and genuine hotel. The food is simple but tastes great. The employees are very helpful when asking for advice. The rooms are clean.

We stayed at the Neos Omalos for a single night before going down the Gorge. The room was basic with a private bathroom, towels, soap and sheets. Nothing too luxurious, but so amazingly quiet up there in the mountains, a good nights sleep before heading down the gorge :) The restaurant has traditional greek dishes, a WiFi connection, and a... We stayed two nights to hike the Samaria Gorge. The hotel staff helped us organize the transport and our way back. We were on the trail at 8:15 and had a few hours with almost no other hikers. Got back to the hotel at 8pm or so. Very relaxing, no-stress hiking day. The hotel has sandwiches to take with you.... More
