Two nights with a gourmet experience dinner. Good service and a pleasant time, but... The bedrooms are what can be best described as prison chic - bare concrete walls and minimalist design. Not uninteresting on its own but there was one pet hate of mine - open plan bathroom! The sink and shower cabin are in a corner of the... More

This was our first visit to the Rioja region, and Hotel Viura is perfectly located to explore the Alava region of Rioja, which houses many of the new style Bodegas. From the outside, the hotel appears to be made up of a number of shoeboxes precariously balanced on a set of shelves. It sounds quite messy, and on the face... More

Once you find the place you will greatly enjoy your stay at Viura. Just take it slow through the town and you will be bound to run into it. The hotel is visually stunning. While not to the extent of Riscal, I prefer the smaller size and feel of the hotel. (we did not stay at Riscal but did go... More

We were on a short trip to sample some Bodegas in the region and only stayed one night. Situated in a small, picturesque village the hotel was super classy to look at and stay in. We had a standard room but it was spacious and it had lots great touches. I lay in the bath for ages with a lovely... More

Sadly we only spent one night at the Hotel Viura, but I must say that it was one of our favorite hotels of all time. Keep in mind that we travel often and know good service when we get it! Not only was this property interesting and cool, and sexy and classy, the staff was so helpful and kind. People... More

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in this area then look no further as I'm sure that the options for somewhere better both on value and hospitality will be few and far between. We arrived early, no problem your room will be ready. In a moment, it was. We wanted to visit a Bodegas that afternoon, it was... More

Stayed here overnight on a quick NorthernSpain adventure and loved everything, the quirky boutique layout, private terrace, bed quality, shower pressure, staff and wow the bar! Given the hotel is a cubist (?) daydream attached somewhat awkwardly to a medieval rural village, who would expect it to work so well with true city slick, charming front desk, first class resto,... We arrived from the UK on Brittany ferries (Portsmouth to Santander crossing - which was briliant - great food, decent nights sleep, plus we spotted 6 whales and too many dolphin to count ....highly recommend it - so much better than the dover calais ferry service) and drove the 2 or so hours to the Viura. Situated in a very... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Composed of whimsically superimposed cubes that seem to surge forcefully from the centre of the earth; punctuated by French windows that flood the rooms with views of the relaxing scenery. Situated in Villabuena de Álava in the Rioja Alavesa, Viura is perfect as a base for discovering La Rioja. Only 20 minutes away from Logroño and from Haro and 10 minutes from such emblematic wine cellars as Ysios and Marqués de Riscal. In addition to its magnificent restaurant, the bar, a fine old wine cellar and a gymnasium, Viura has wonderful terraces on the top floor with panoramic views of the San Andrés Church, built between 1538 and 1728, and of all the mountains of the Sierra de Cantabria. All hotel guests have at their disposal, without any charge, wireless internet connection, soft drinks from the mini-bar, gym access, bicycles and parking.
