Myself and my family, being my mum, 3 aunts, uncles and 7+ cousins stayed here over the bank holiday weekend. There were loads of us staying and being a big family we needed space. We were all coming and going all week due to work, but it was a perfect place to stay. Located about 10 minutes drive from Windermere,... More

Self catered cottage. A very comfortable 'home from home' cottage. Ideal for a large party of 10 and a small dog, with plenty of room, has all facilities including a well stocked huge dining kitchen and four very adequate shower/bath rooms. The cottage was charming, with much character, and met all our needs as a base for touring the lakes... More

My family and I have just stayed at Hagg End Cottage from December 23rd to the 28th 2013. This cottage is now a holiday let and is absolutely great for families. It is about 450 years old with beautiful oak panelling and antique furniture. It has five bedrooms and four bathrooms/shower rooms. We are a family of ten including 5... More

From the moment we saw this "oddly" named B&B on our route-map we were intrigued. Turns out that a hagg is not a misshapen crone who cacklingly rides a broomstick into the night sky with a feline familiar in tow - no. A hagg is, in fact, a northern English (and I was to later discover, a Scottish) term for... More

Staying in this B&B reminded me of the little place in the movie the Holiday. I don't drive in England, so I took the train and then a taxi to the B&B from the station. If you are looking to stay in the countryside and experience the Lake District, there is no better place to stay. Each morning after breakfast,... More

This hidden away cottage is truely outstanding, A warm and friendly welcome from Helen and her husband. The smell of what we believed to be our evening meal as we drove up to the cottage but what actually turned out to be a feast! Helen's cooking it amazing, she accommodates for all including a very fussy vegetarian. Nothing is too... More

We arrived at Hagg End after 14 miles of walking along the Dales Way in very wet weather to be greeted by the wonderful Helen and a warm and cosy cottage in which to dry off! She cooked us a lovely meal, was very accommodating about our need for an early start and, along with husband Pedro, was lovely company.... More

Hagg end farm is excellent. We stayed on New Years Eve and all our party agreed that this is a fabulous place. It is a beautiful old farm house with all the original features, the rooms were very pretty and the mattresses so comfy that we asked for the details of the manufacturer. The farm is in a secluded spot,... More
