Good points location Terrible hotel the whole hotel is run down. The rooms were dirty and unclean Service was bad from staff Bar was closed on a Saturday night at 10.15 when we arrived back. Certainly not a 4 star prices are very overrated Would not stay again

Good points, Great location and gardens, nice room, dog friendly. Bad points, all of the staff are miserable and told me off for ordering drinks outside as I should get my own drinks from the bar. When I did order drinks I had to explain how a Campari should be served Most of the red wine was off the wine... More

An imposing building situated alongside the busy A429 in the hamlet of Fossebridge. The front facade gives no clue as to peaceful bars and the wonderful garden to the rear. There are two bars and a dining room all of which are located in the oldest part of the building and are divided by stone archways. They are rustic and... More

Think that this establishment has changed hands recently and are in transition hell by the looks and by our awful lunch experience of this weekend, We highly rated this old hotel for lunches and you can also safely walk dogs from here and let the kids loose in the gardens. The Gardens are beautiful by the way with a nice... More

We popped in for lunch and a drink over Bank Holiday weekend. In the end we just had drinks due to the lengthy wait for food. Staff were more interested in chatting to each other and an elderly woman behind the bar had no idea how to serve. Worst of all the childrens wooden train outside fell over and a... More

we stayed here for one night on the bank holiday weekend. the kids had a blast in the gardens. the food was good, staff was very nice albeit a bit rushed off their feet. They were probably too understaffed especially in the restaurant. Because we booked last minute we were not able to get a larger room, which is not... More

Although the garden is lovely and picturesque with its lake aspect and lawn, it is right on the A road and rather noisy. We had the speciality pies which were good but chips were too fatty and slightly burnt and the vegetable too buttery. We sat in the garden and had to clear glasses of a table ourselves. The tables... Called in on the off chance on May bank holiday Monday. We were greeted nicely and shown to a corner table by the log burning stove. Ham egg and chips and scampi and chips were both nicely served and delicious. The only criticism was that the room was the room little cold

Very attentive staff served us well from half three to half ten when we had to leave. Reception on the lawn with a range of fabulous canapes, inc seared tuna with wasabi, and a huge range of other lovely nibbles. Wonderful location and dining room for the evening meal. We didn't stay, so cant judge that element. But staff, food... More
