I stayed in Cafe for a week and had an amazing experience, always felt like home. Excellent food and hospitality from the employees and the owners. Delicious food and great service. Clean and good rooms. Love it! 100% recomended. Just come and prepare yourself to enjoy a great time.

I continue to be surprised and amazed by the exquisite tastes of Hotel Cafe Playa Negra. A small and economic 6 rooms hotel, always clean and fresh with an attentive and corteous staff. And then there is the food, Peruvian food at its best. Fresh fish right out of the ocean made into ceviche, tiradito and plates that are world... More

This was the most expensive room we got on our two month trip, mostly because we stayed in a few hostels and used airbnb. At 65$ it was amazing, great bed and shower, and can't complain about the AC! Very stylish and great shared space on the patio outside. We were told breakfast was included, which we were excited for,... More

I had never been so far off the beaten track, nor even stayed in a hostel before. The first time I saw the room, I was a little hesitant at first. In a few hours, I was as in love with this hotel as Playa Negra overall. The people who work here are awesome and totally live the pura vida... More

This was a wonderful find on the main road in Playa Negra. We had our 55 pound dog with us - no problem. We arrived in time for dinner. I had wonderful Tuna Terriyaki and my husband enjoyed a big buger with mushrooms, cheese and fries. The margaritas were good - too good. We each had three! The rooms were... More

--Hotel food is tasty (Try the Rice with Beans - Delicious) --Staff is nice enough ###CONS -I believe the Hotel is very expensive for what it offers and where it is situated. ........There is a 5-10 min paveless road that needs to be taken to get to the hotel, from the paved road ........There are no lively Bars or club... We did not stay at the hotel but came to their restaurant. My boyfriend and I loved it so much that we ate here every other day on our 10 day vacation. We still talk about how amazing the food was. Amazing!

I left Monterrey, Mexico after an exhausting business trip and went directly to my favorite surf spot in the world, Playa Negra. As usual I stayed at Café Playa Negra where the food is beyond believe, the staff is like hanging out with friends, and the overall experience is always great. Lula, who also runs the shop next door, is... More

We arrived at Cafe Playa Negra yesterday lunchtime after a long drive from the North. We had made a booking for two rooms via telephone the previous evening. When we turned up the young woman on 'reception' (note that there is no reception area, it's just the main bar in the restaurant) did not smile or say hello or have... More

Dear Joanna I understand that the roads in Costa Rica can be punishing, especially if you have been traveling for many hours, with an older lady in your car, but even so, and the lack of a smile does not give you the right to such hurtful comments about us and our otherwise very appreciated Café Playa Negra establishment. It... More

The bungalows at Playa Negra are just the ticket for an authentic Costa Rican experience. They are simple, clean, and comfortable. The ocean front could not be more spectacular. The food is even good, which is rare in Costa Rica. We stayed there for four days and were very pleased with every meal we had. It also does not break... More
