My fiancé and I drove past this camp right on the beach with quite magical views over the bay. Was getting late so we have decided to stay. We were greeted right away and with very friendly approach. Rates are very reasonable for what there is to offer. Apart from camp site you can rent a room or a suite... More

Whangaruru Beachfront Camp is situated right on the beach at the entrance of the Whangaruru Harbour. This area is great for boating, ¬fishing and water sports and just over the hill you can enjoy the open sea and waves of Oakura Beach. The camp has been developed over the years and now has motels, cabins and 80 camp sites of... More

My wife and I came across this site just by chance and weren't we the lucky ones. The owners are wonderfully helpful and are investing heavily into this for them a new business venture. What a location, fabulous. The site has everything necessary for either accommodation, camping or like us power campervan sites. Thank you for all your help. Nigel... More

Right by the water, reminiscent of treasured childhood holidays. Great surrounding beaches and a wonderful slice of traditional New Zealand. No hesitation in recommending this campground to families and couples.

We stayed here just after New Years and paid the most we've ever paid for an unpowered campsite. The campground is idyllic (during the day!) but we were not wow-ed by the beach, which might be suitable for taking the boat out but isn't great for swimming. The worst part however was that we got woken up by fighting possums... More

We stumbled across this idyllic place, were going to stay a day and stayed four, only then reluctantly leaving because of time pressures. The situation is right out of this world, I can't praise it enough. A smallish site which fronts directly onto almost the whole of a beach looking across Whangururu Harbour. Vehicles wanting to get to the next... More

I have been coming to this camp ground since I was a young child, and this year after a 8 year break I brought my children back to the camp to go camping. The family and managers of the camp are fantastic, always willing to help you out should you need it. The children loved the freedom of being able... More

It was our first time to this camping ground and we were not disappointed. Lovely relaxed management and wonderful family atmosphere. We were there over new year and it was fun and safe for all ages. Clearly the same families and groups of friends rebook year after year. There is lots of activity (boaties' camp ground) oriented around water sports,... More

Spent a night here in one of the motel units. Had a view of the sea from our unit. The staff were friendly and helpful. The unit was clean and the bed was comfortable which is always a bonus. Just a short stroll to the beach and a short walk or drive to another beach so you can take your... More

This would have to be the most amazing camping ground to take the family. The setting is absolutely picture perfect, the water is safe for the little one's & the fishing is excellent, we always came home with a feed. We utilized the on site kayaks which was an amazing experience because a pod of dolphins joined us. I was... More
