Visiting South England, Sussex in particular, is a very beautiful experience, like going around in a huge park. However, experience is even more memorable if instead of city hotels, or city B&B, one stays in countryside accommodations. One then experiences the true atmosphere of centuries of tradition and also hospitality of hosts. The place to stay in is Hobbs Cottage,... More

We were walking the South Downs Way and were delighted to discover this place right alongside the path on the way down. The room was spacious and comfortable and Wendy was very helpful and welcoming. We had a good night's sleep and a filling breakfast - ideal preparation for the next day's walk Our only slight negative was that there... More

My wife and I stayed here while walking the South Downs Way - Hobbs Cottage is directly on the Way. We had spacious accommodation (our room had a separate seating area) and we were offered use of the conservatory and garden. We were served a very good breakfast. There is a pub serving good food a few minutes walk away... More

Hobbs Cottage is situated perfectly on part of the South Downs way at Pyecombe. Stayed here with 2 girlfriends. Wendy had kindly put an extra bed in the lovely twin room and there was still plenty of room. We had everything we needed it was spotlessly clean and wholesome breakfast the next day. Wendy was very helpful with our questions... More

Wendy and Terry gave us a warm welcome on our arrival and made us feel special during our three night stay. The room was to an exceptional standard of cleanliness with all the little extras that you could wish for. The breakfast was lovely and just what you needed for a good start to the day. The cottage itself is... More

We were given a very friendly warm welcome from Wendy at Hobbs Cottage. This is a 400 year old flint cottage situated at Pycombe on the South Downs Way. Our room was warm, clean and comfortable. We had an en suite bathroom which was great. Breakfast was very good indeed.

I stayed here last week, Wendy and Terry were very welcoming and made my stay most enjoyable. Hobbs Cottage is a fascinating old building. My evening meal I had in The Plough ,just over the road....the menu I found to be good and extensive...as well as the Real Ale on draught.

Like other reviewers , we stayed at Hobbs cottage while walking the South Downs way. The first thing we liked about it was that it is literally right on the trail which is a boon for tired feet. We got a very warm welcome - the owners even ran up the Canadian flag in our honour. We were in the... More

This is a lovely cottage, with clean, pretty rooms and very well equipped bathrooms. The downstairs bathroom has a huge bath and a separate shower. Wendy and Terry were wonderful hosts. They made us feel very welcome, and produced delicious breakfasts. The rooms are up stairs which are quite steep so if you have mobility problems it may not be... More
