I stayed here last week, Wendy and Terry were very welcoming and made my stay most enjoyable. Hobbs Cottage is a fascinating old building. My evening meal I had in The Plough ,just over the road....the menu I found to be good and extensive...as well as the Real Ale on draught.

Like other reviewers , we stayed at Hobbs cottage while walking the South Downs way. The first thing we liked about it was that it is literally right on the trail which is a boon for tired feet. We got a very warm welcome - the owners even ran up the Canadian flag in our honour. We were in the... More

This is a lovely cottage, with clean, pretty rooms and very well equipped bathrooms. The downstairs bathroom has a huge bath and a separate shower. Wendy and Terry were wonderful hosts. They made us feel very welcome, and produced delicious breakfasts. The rooms are up stairs which are quite steep so if you have mobility problems it may not be... More

This immaculately presented cottage was the ideal location for a function we were attending at nearby Pangdene, which was a 10 minute walk away. Good job we weren't put off by a previous review as our experience could not have been better. Breakfast was delicious with home grown and fresh produce, and everywhere was spotless.

Stopped here whilst on a walking holiday of the SWD last week and it was a treat. The hosts were so relaxed and welcoming. They could not have done more for us. Sitting in their garden we were even offered a glass of wine. The local pub which they recommended was excellent - our best meal on the road all... More

We stayed here whilst walking the South Downs Way and it was a great choice. The cottage is very close to the path and the owners were very welcoming. They provided an excellent breakfast, including vegetarian sausages and all the facilities were of a very high standard. The walk to The Plough is not far ( over the footbridge and... More

We attempted to stay at Hobbs cottage this week, so that you understand why my review is so bad I urge you to read it all because as you will see from all of my reviews I am very fair but do not accept bad service! We booked our room over the phone and booked a double room with esuite,... More

We advertise Hobbs Cottage B&B details only on National Trails' South Downs Way site. These guests did not book a double room as Hobbs Cottage only has 2 twin rooms (as advertised). They arrived at the time they said they would (appropriately dressed for a wedding) and parked their car in our gateway (despite there being other space available), thus... More

I don't really think I need to add much to the previous reviews of this B&B - lovely house, lovely breakfast and lovely owners! Also good value. I just came on here to add my recommendation - five stars

After a wet and windy day walking the South Downs Way this clean, comfortable, cosy cottage was a good place to spend the night and I really appreciated a nice hot bath. I had lots of wet clothes and they put them in the drier for me and I felt well cared for. Lovely people and the breakfast was pretty... More

We stay in Hobbs Cottage about once a year when cycling the South Downs Way. Rooms are always spotless, the building is a carefully restored 400 year old gem, the breakfast is reliably top quality and nothing seems too much trouble for Wendy. Needless to say, would definitely stay again!
