Swallow's Roost is just a beautifully presented B&B in a fantastic elevated position 3miles outside Port Ellen overlooking the bay and surrounding coastline. Susan and family made us so welcome and helped us with everything we needed to do to get around, find the right places to go to and where to eat etc. Had a great weekend and would... More

We had the honour to be Susan's guests on our trip to Islay and already on arrival we were stunned by the view. We had two lovely rooms with overlook on the Port Ellen and the sea. The whole house is very clean and compared to other B&Bs we visited in Scotland high above the standard. I haven't slept that... More

Very close to the Port Ellen ferry is the lovely home at Swallow’s Roost where we were cheerfully greeted as we drove up to the driveway. Although our host Susan was away, her in-laws, Ralph and Mary took wonderful care of us. They were sweet and welcoming from the start. Ralph gave us helpful suggestions as to which distilleries were... More

We stayed for two nights at Swallow's Roost in July, the place is very nice with a stunning view of the lighthouse and Port Ellen. The room was large and comfortable and all the house looks quite new and clean. The only downside is that you cannot have a cooked breakfast, and choices of food for the continental breakfast was... Jean and I stayed at Swallow's Roost, for 4 nights in June. On arrival we were met by Susan and Ralph who made us feel very welcome. Our room was excellent, and included an en.suite shower room. After a very good night's sleep, time for breakfast . " Wow", what a breakfast, what a variety of goodies. After breakfast Susan... More

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Swallow's Roost earlier this month and we had a wonderful experience. In Susan's absence, Ralph and Mary were our marvellous hosts and they quickly made us feel at home. Though the location is a bit outside of Port Ellen, the views from the B&B easily made up for the distance.... More

We stayed for two nights in May 2015, and our stay was perfect in every way. Susan was a wonderful host, and Swallows Roost provided such a magical location (the island itself is so special of course, but the location of SW is simply breathtaking). Great breakfast, comfortable room, lovely relaxing room ... and a special view each day of... More

My wife and I had the great pleasure of staying at Swallow's Roost October 23 - 26, 2014. The house is beautiful, spotless, with all amenities and offers unbelievable hilltop views of the bay and of Port Ellen. Our host in Susan's absence was her husband, David, who was most gracious indeed, and very knowledgable of the island and it's... More

Stayed for 3 nights in king size room. The room is very spacious with a fantastic view of the sea and Port Ellen. The guests lounge also has great views over the sea. The continental breakfasts were very substantial with plenty of choice. Susan the host was very welcoming and helpful. There is lots to see and do in the... More
