I visited this restaurant on a Sunday with my wife and 2 friends. The setting is nice and the staff were friendly. It was fairly busy, maybe 50-60% full, but the service was slow - slow to take our orders, slow for the food to arrive and slow for the bill to arrive. Prior to our starters arriving a waitress... Room nice. Comfy but very soft bed. lamp missing bulb. Lighting strange and dim. fantastic shower though very scrimped on toiletries. Toilet roll holder needs attention. Some blackness on grout between tiles. Restaurant food excellent in evening. HUGE portions and great choice. Service excellent. Breakfast was odd. No cold buffet eg fruit juices, fruit, yogurt etc. Had to order juice from... More

On a positive note the weather was nice that day. Food however just not up to scratch. Had scallops to start and really nothing special for the price. Roast dinner the real low point though. The Yorkshire pudding having a burnt oven taste and the gravy tasted bland like from a packet. Really dissapointed.

The rooms were lovely, fantastic toilettes - just what we needed after a very active day. There was ample hot water but we did find a few bulbs out. after a lovely dinner we slept very well on very comfortable beds. Breakfast was a hit or miss affair…….the waitress asked what we wanted but did not bring toast to tea... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, with 2 rooms for the family. Both rooms whilst clean and spacious were very dark; the lighting was inadequate and only 1 bedside light. The walls and ceiling are very thin which means you hear your neighbours' moving about. Phones are an issue here; very poor mobile signal, no room to room phones and no... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, staff were very welcoming, friendly and they couldn't have done enough for you. Room was spacious, spotlessly clean, modern and a good size bathroom. The restaurant menu was varied, all freshly prepared and a good selection of nice wines! Breakfast was also lovely! Lovely view of the canal and boats and only 20miles from Glasgow... More

Come here regularly to eat as we live nearby. Food is always great with plenty choices. Stornaway black pudding starter is yummy and pulled pork delicious. Service can sometimes be a little patchy when it's busy but generally it's really good. Lovely place to go on a nice day as the outlook is lovely. Even coffee and caramel shortcake is... More

Clean, comfortable hotel with excellent reasonable priced food. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our overnight stay. The dinner menu was imaginative and the meal was delicious. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the hotel is in a peaceful and picturesque setting beside a canal. The breakfast was great but very slow on the morning of our... More

The boathouse a small hotel with bedrooms overlooking the canal basin. It only has ten bedrooms mine was on second floor. Only noise was the vessels swinging in the wind. A very pleasant outlook also hills ion background. The Scottish breakfast was fine with a good variety of alternatives. It is right on canal path and looks over a popular... More
