We decided to follow the Southern Scenic Route as we made our way from Dunedin to the western part of the south island. We weren't sure what to expect, and wished we would have had more time to stop along all the beautiful spots along the way, but were we delighted to park our camper van at the McLean Holiday... More

We stayed for one night in the motel units. The owner is trading on his 'environmental awareness' and therefore one is expected to overlook the tiny, poorly insulated rooms, inadequate bathrooms and the fact that there is little lighting between the motel units and the restaurant. The duvet was way too heavy and hot but there were no blankets so... More

Six friends had a couple of nights at the McLean Falls Motel over Easter - had the cottage with two bedrooms, and a motel unit as well. The motel unit was fine for two of us, but the cottage was superb - more like hiring a bach than motel accommodation, with really good kitchen equipment; a big dining table for... More

Range of accommodation available from camping to "chalets", also ensuite "motel" rooms or small cabins with shared facilities. (Motel rooms do not have TV but have a bed, hairdryer, heating, and private ensuite bathroom. They share a kitchen with the other motel rooms.) Cafe on site has nice meals - last orders about 7.30pm in summer. 3km to McLeans Falls... More

Arrived late afternoon Got last cabin $85 Small is an understatement but clean. Bed ok Food great quality and service as good as you can get. Points to think about Take a torch there is no lighting at night to guide you to the communal toilets. Take fly spray as there are lots of flying insects at night ( every... More

Hi Richard, Thanks for the kudos. The cabins were from the Clyde dam construction and have a lot of history attached. Many guests say how large they are, especially with the nice covered verandahs - so what can I say. There are lights on the outside plus there are lights in the campground and around the ablution block. It can... More

Should you not be able to make it as far as Kaka Point where there is a large choice of motels, this may be a convenient option. We stayed in a very basic cabin that I felt over priced for what was essentially a camp bed. There are a couple of motel units on the property if available. A popular... More

I wish you had mentioned that the cabin is equipped with coffee and tea, an electric blanket, heater, carpeted floor, executive quality bed, towels and toiletries, a lovely duvet. I feel it is very good value for the money and we pay 15% off the top to the government. More

This a great holiday park. We stayed in a camper space which was fine and our relatives in a chalet which was modern, clean and nicely decorated. The site was quite busy when we visited but the staff were excellent. We had forgotten our campervan bedding and they rented us some but then refused to take any payment for it... More

My wife and I just got off a three week vacation on the South Island and this gem of a Holiday Park was definitely on the highlights. Initially we pulled in simply to have some food, but after a couple of excellent local beers (Wasp is just one of the best beers of all time) and what was at that... More
