We lucked up on this B&B near Castle Howard. Janet Foster was a lovely host. The rooms were typical farmhouse style, clean and comfortable. Wonderful to see the milk truck coming in the morning to pick up the milk. There were animals everywhere--granddaughter riding her horse, dogs, chickens, cows. So peaceful and tranquil. Breakfast was lovely. Delicious and I felt... More

This is a working farm but Sarah somehow manages to run a very good B&B as well! It is quiet as it is right in the country, lovely views overlooking the fields. The house is very old and as such the bathroom had a floor that dipped down - a funny feeling when you walked there, but par for the... More

Lovely B&B. Communication beforehand was excellent. Sarah was very welcoming and thoughtful (my daughter left her cuddly toy and she phoned me to tell me as soon as she found it). Beautiful setting and delicious breakfast. Very close to Castle Howard and in the vicinity of lovely pubs.

Very pleasant experience overall. We stayed at the Woodhouse Farm in June 2014. The house was beautiful, very well maintained and very clean throughout, it had a fully equipped kitchen. We got complementary eggs and a delicious home made pie. The surrondings were gorgeous, very peaceful place. The service we received from the owners was extraordinary, we couldn't be happier.

The best B&B we have stayed at for years. Sarah made us very welcome and the setting is -- well superb -- the breakfasts are fresh, hot, super tasty. Wood House Farm has lovely views in a very peaceful setting. Good food is available at local pubs - and the access to the Wolds is ideal.

Just returned from a lovely stay at Apple Tree cottage on Woodhouse farm, cottage was delightful and the welcome home made bread, plum crumble, eggs etc left by Sarah were fabulous! This cottage is ideal for visiting York and the surrounding area and there are some very nice pubs locally with excellent dining facilities. We certainly will be returning!

Wonderful location (near York, near the moors; very near several great pubs for dining); classic farmyard and woodland attached; sheep, ducks, hens, cows; great old farmhouse with all the requisite modernizing; charming (but unobstrusive) hostess. If you want a home-away-from-home for a few days, this is it.

It is a lovely area and Sarah is wonderful ... we stayed in a double upstairs and really the only problems with the accommodation was that the bathroom was sooooooooooooooooo small that you could barely turn around in it, the WiFi was barely unavailable and the breakfast (that Trip Advisor had so many glowing reviews of) was only 'fair' for... Here at Woodhouse Farm we pride ourselves on offering the best possible experience for our guests, which is why we are very concerned that you have had a less than excellent stay with us. In response to the points you have raised, yes, the shower room in that bedroom is small. I don't advertise as having bathrooms, and make it... More

This is a lovely B and B situated on a working farm. We were warmly welcomed with a cup of tea in front of a roaring fire. The rooms were well heated (on a cold winter's day), comfortable and spacious. After a good night's sleep the breakfasts were outstanding - well cooked and beautifully presented locally sourced food. Hightly recommended!
