I know that there are some brilliant reviews for this pub and it is supposed to be award winning, but I think that the award people should go back to re-rate the establishment. This is my own experience. I visited on Monday this week, so hungry that I could have licked the pattern off the wallpaper. After waiting for a... More

Dear Gavioli We embrace Trip Advisor and all customer feedback and reviews. In fact listening to our customers has been integral to our business over the past 15 years and one of the reasons I believe we have received a number of local and national awards. We may not always get it right, but we certainly want to. Firstly I... More

We found this a wonderful experience. We had a lovely welcome and were shown to our very unusual room. Every little comfort had been thought of. Only problem was bumping head on the beams! Loved the old school desk used as a table! Wonderful views from the rooms. We had a party in the barn in the evening where the... More

The Durham Ox matched the flavour of the reviews on all counts. We stayed in the Lavender room for 3 nights and it was a pleasure to be shown in by Sam after a long days driving and sight seeing. Ground coffee, a Yorkie bar and quality bathroom lotions all welcome when looking for a little luxury . We dined... More

Just popped into the Durham Ox these evening with my wife and two children. I am reviewing the establishment as a Pub and not a Hotel as we have not stayed overnight. We often go to it's sister pub the Crown and Cushion at Welburn but were passing Crayke so stopped by. Everything was spot on, if you get in... More

For some years, we lived close enough to the Durham Ox to be regular diners and never had cause for complaint. When circumstances forced a house move over 100 miles away, we were sorry to have to give up our visits, so when we learned in March this year that they had completed the conversion of some of the outbuildings... The Durham Ox provided just the rest break we were looking for with our 2 little Labs. Good walking all around the village, and a lovely Rose cottage to come back to for fresh ground coffee and Yorkie bar all provided by our hosts. Evening meal in the Ox was very relaxing and tasty food at sensible prices. We will be... More

We are big fans of the Durham Ox having used their hotel a few times - we returned in February and rented their newest addition Ivy Cottage, an absolutely charming self contained, self catering cottage a stones throw from the pub down the main street in Crayke. The cottage is stunning, furnished so beautifully and has its own garden and... More

We visited for the midweek supper club, which is an unbelievable deal. The food is excellent, breakfast was amazing and the beer is brilliant. Our room was lovely and had the best tea tray ever and a massive comfy bed. Every member of staff was friendly and professional. Thanks so much x

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Durham Ox. We had heard about the pub because of its foodie reputation but decided to stay because of the excellent value for money supper club offer. We found the two rooms we stayed in both excellently furnished, with comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms (travertine tiles and good showers). There were good quality bath... More
