We visited the restaurant this weekend. Unfortunately although the quality of the food was fine the portions were very small. For instance I ordered the tiger prawns with choirizo and there were only two very small cubes of choirizo about the size of a drawing pin! There were none of the touches you might expect from a restaurant meal such... More

We had a lovely day out at Montacute starting at the brilliant TV and Radio Museum, but made a mistake by choosing the King's Arms for lunch. We had to ask for a lunch menu as all the tables had evening menus (at 1330) and after placing an order for 3 ciabattas and a sandwich had to wait quite some... More

We recently stayed at the Kings Arms based on a KGB voucher we purchased! Firstly the pictures on the KGB Deal website featured those of Montacute house and pictures of the bedrooms - misleading as this had us thinking that we were led to believe that the pictures of Montacute house were the accomadation! It's only after we booked and... More

Only stayed there 1 night but, it was lovely. Room was old fashioned but in a country house style, really suited it. The shower wasn't great but as only staying 1 night I just didn't use it. Good location, we were visiting Montacute House which was practically next door. Peaceful, quiet village. Best part by FAR was dinner! AMAZING! The... More

We have just returned from a 2 night stay (2nd week of April). The management of the hotel is changing yet again. There was a temporary manager in place (John - very friendly and helpful) but a new manager is about to start. There are currently some problems though which are keeping my rating down. The first morning we assessed... More

Stayed at The Kings Arms for one night only. Very welcoming. Room comfortable and Food Excellent! The barman / Waiter on the Saturday night was extremely helpful and friendly, he should have a special mention, nothing was too much trouble. Will definately put it on our return list!

The room was excellent, staff delightful and I had the best steak and chips I can remember. I travel a lot for work, if only all of the hotels were this good. Highly recommend. Take time to look around the village too, it's beautiful.

Really nice lunch but rather dreary surroundings. Whole place could do with facelift. Also short staffed for a Sunday (at short notice apparently). Given that the waiter/ barman did v well - needs a special mention!
