I've spent 3 nights at The Walnut Tree hotel on business. Fabulous accommodation and even better food! The character filled room was very spacious, cosy and spotlessly clean. It has a contemporary bathroom that made the stay very comfortable. I'd happily visit again when on business or pleasure, the staff were very friendly, pleasant and accommodating. Free wifi throughout making... More

Before we booked our stay checked the reviews, all we're very good so we were not disappointed when we arrived. The owners were very friendly , our room was lovely too and we booked our evening meal in the restaurant which was absolutely delicious all fresh ingredients and the puddings were too die for!! Breakfast was included and was excellent.... More

Stayed here for two nights 2/3 october we found the owners and their staff friendly and helpful from the time we walked through the door.We booked 2 rooms for 3 adults these were spotlessly clean and tidy as were the bathrooms. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was excellent. If you are looking for an ultra modern hotel... I have just come back after spending a few nights here on business. The food is excellent and served by people who obviously care about good service. The room was nice and I particularly liked the fact that you got a couple of comfortable chairs to sit and relax in - not found in many other hotels. Bathroom was good... More

Dined here on Friday evening, the service was good, the suroundings were even better, the food was excellant, I had the guinea fowl which was cooked to perfection, my fellow diners all had different to me and not a crumb left on the plate, the ambience was especially good, great for a celebration i.e birthday, anniversary.

every time we visit Somerset we dine at the Walnut Tree. Peter the owner and chef produces wonderful food (please bring back the belly pork!) and the atmosphere is snooky and welcoming. we have stayed once and agree with the comments about the bedrooms being past their use by date but for meals only it is one of the best... The food was amazing, beautifully cooked and tasted wonderful. The landlord and lady and other staff were really lovely. However the room we were in was not great, the shower looked fabulous but could only produce tepid water even after running it for a while. The bed was so uncomfortable, the mattress obviously had been well used and had springs... More

First impressions: a nice place in nice surroundings. Our room was downstairs and very dark. I applaud the use of eco light bulbs but when you need to turn on every light in the room (there were many) it defeats the object. even with them all on i couln't read! The bathroom had a shower, we booked a bath but... More

We really enjoyed the food here and had a lovely meal. We took young children and it was the sort of place where I felt a bit self-conscious about that as it was generally a quiet environment and there was no specific children's menu. However, thankfully the kids behaved and we had no problems, but I probably won't go with... More
