Went on a "steak night" where all steaks were £10 . The steak was certainly not a sirloin and was fatty and tasteless . The mushroom was cold and the tomato not cooked although it was allegedly "oven baked". The dessert was a summer fruit meringue which cost £5.99 and was a meringue with one strawberry and two raspberries!!!. Had... More

We met with friends for a celebratory birthday meal. We wanted an early meal as we had distances to travel after and so arrived just before 6.30 pm, which was our time for the table reservation. The restaurant was not busy at this time. There was no urgency in taking our order, but what really annoyed us was the long... More

We stayed in the Helyar Arms for a week in early August. The village was lovely but the Inn was almost impossible to find. The accommodation was not particularly clean and rooms were not serviced regularly during our stay. At times it was difficult to tell either way whether they had been serviced at all. The lights were not working... More

The Helyar Arms is a lovely 17th century inn. They are justly proud of their kitchen. We had a lovely dinner there, as well as a fine breakfast. The room was perfectly comfortable, with modern fittings. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Do note that the reception desk is not continually staffed (they make this clear on their website),... More

We stayed here on 26.7.14 for a local family party. The room was perfectly fine (although the toilet did make very loud noises, like a saniflow, and pumped out a lovely sewage smell) but on returning at 3am we found the keys wouldn't work in the door - and not because we had been out for the night or were... We called in on our way home for something to eat, on Father's Day. Thought the prices weren't too bad when looking at the menu. We ordered 2 roast beef dinners expecting a hot scrumptious meal, when what we were actually greeted with was vegetables that weren't even blanched, let alone cooked, the roast potatoes were undercooked and cold ,... The restaurant is very clean and smart looking, very well presented for a country inn. I am not sure what the fuss is about I had a superb meal of Pork and Apple potatoes my... More

Stayed at this great little hotel, the food and service was fabulous, the room I stayed in was Pincushion, it was comfortable and had everything I could of needed in there. Absolutely no complaints at all. The staff were very helpful and would highly recommend to all.
