How an owner can go on holiday and leave his staff to provide service without the necessary support beggars belief . Waited 70 mins for starters much of the menu was unavailable ,when arrived it was cold and way below an acceptable standard . 45 mins later the mains arrived ..total garbage on a plate . The only saving grade... More

We had lunch here today..a rather dreary January day . On entering the pub the first impression was of a strong & not very pleasant smell of hot oil. Also the room was very chilly despite the presence of a welcoming log fire burning brightly. Our meal was slow to arrive . There were only 5 other diners. However ,... More

Winter lunch date with friends. A real cosy restaurant with roaring fire. Lunch menu was nice and service was good. It was very quiet. There was ample parking. Took a while to find the pub signs in the village would help.

A charming, village restaurant with lots of character. With family coming from abroad and across the UK to the meal, we were hoping the service and food would not let the occasion down - and it certainly didn't. The food was excellent and the chef changed certain dishes to some of our family's requirements. Service was friendly without feeling pushy... More

Lunch with a business colleague. There was much about the steak ciabatta so we both had this. It did not disappoint-very tasty, great steak and a good price to boot. The menu looked really appetising going through it, which makes me want to go again soon and try it with the family. Lovely old pub, roaring open fire.....will be back.

I was really hoping that this meal was going to be good. Sadly, yet again (we came about 18 months ago) it was not good. Cannot understand why as they were not rushed off their feet as there were only a couple of tables booked. You had to ask for the bar staff's attention as they were permanently chatting and... More

Lots of atmosphere in this 15th century inn. Spotlessly clean, food excellent and staff friendly and efficient. Award-winning chef provides a varied and interesting menu. Our break was a Wowcher offer but we didn't sense any difference in how we were treated. Nothing was too much trouble. We'll be back, even at full price it's well worth it.

We stayed here earlier this year. The room was fine - not bad, but not great either. But the real memory of the place was how awful the food was. We had to send the lasagne back - it was supposed to be beef, but I thought it tasted like pork, and my partner thought it was actually off. Either... More

We were told we had to call ahead if arriving in the afternoon so someone would be there to check us in. This was not possible to time so we delayed our arrival to after 6pm which was not ideal especially with a small child. The room was old fashioned and not much space. No bath only shower so unable... Went on a "steak night" where all steaks were £10 . The steak was certainly not a sirloin and was fatty and tasteless . The mushroom was cold and the tomato not cooked although it was allegedly "oven baked". The dessert was a summer fruit meringue which cost £5.99 and was a meringue with one strawberry and two raspberries!!!. Had... More
