This is an exceptional place to get away and relax in nature. Our room was especially clean, comfortable and cozy with a private patio surrounded by beautiful trees and a creek. The owners are very accommodating and serve a delicious breakfast of yogurt parfait and quiche. The kitchenette is stocked with all the essentials along with milk, juice, coffee and... More

We've stayed at the Chuparosa Inn a number of times and will return whenever we can. It is beautiful, restful, clean and comfortable. Birds galore for those inclined, close to hiking trails, and not far from Green Valley for restaurants, groceries, etc... Luis and Nancy are perfect host and hostess and the breakfasts are excellent too!

The Chuparosa is a must if you go to Madera Canyon for ANY reason. Luis is fabulous and knows the area inside and out. The birding was great, but even without the birds, the Canyon is beautiful. The Inn is spotless, well maintained, and the quiche breakfast was delicious! Very comfortable. The only thing I would say is that you... More

It was wonderful to sit on the porch and watch hummingbirds, Scott's Oriole , acorn woodpeckers, hepatic Tanager , and painted restarts. At night we could hear the Mexican whippoorwill, whiskeredscreech owl, and the elf owl. Breakfast was it dirty as you want because it is put in the fridge the night before and was very tasty. We spotted an... More

Owned by Luis and Nancy Calvo, this lovely B&B sits nestled in the forest, right off the road up to the hiking trails. You can also just walk out the door of your room and get on a trail. It's comfortable to adult travelers; bring a sweater and long pants for cool evenings next to the fire pit. There are... More

If you are seeking a retreat, away from the hustle and connectivity of today's wold this is your place. My only caution would be don't go too early if you are hoping to see lots of migrating birds. We were there at the beginning of migration and added 28 species to our life lists. We were hoping for 80. The... More

My husband and I have stayed at the Chuparosa 3 times over the past several years, and he's stayed a couple of extra times by himself. His parents live in Green Valley, which is a nice enough town, but driving up Madera Canyon is like entering another, far less deserty world. There are just a few properties nestled in the... More

We hope this can continue to be your home away from home when you visit family in Green Valley. Good news on the Forest Service construction of the bridges - the... More

This property is one of the most beautiful B&B's I have ever experienced. Unfortunately, through no fault of the owners, the forest service's two bridges leading up to the property are under construction. Construction began at 7:00 a.m. and ended at 6:30 p.m. on both nights we were booked for my 60th birthday celebration. Property manager worked hard to make... More

Thank you for the wonderful review of the Chuparosa Inn. We look forward to your return. We love Madera Canyon and sharing it and our home with others. Fortunately the Forest Service construction project that is replacing the one lane bridges with two lane bridges will be done In April. We are grateful for our wonderful guests who have been... My husband and I were at the B/B for a holiday getaway. Was such a peaceful place and hiking right outside the door. The hosts Nancy and Luis were wonderful and made us feel very comfortable there. They had great ideas for hiking and places to eat.

At an elevation of 5200 feet, it's delightfully cool. We saw 6 species of hummingbirds-from the largest U.S., the Blue-throated, to the smallest, the Calliope, plus a preponderance of Broad-billed with their dressed for the ball sequin-like feathers of turquoise and blue and green accented by their red bill. The highlight was experiencing the Magnificent Hummingbird with its purple crown... More
