The staff were very lovely, chatty and helpful, but the accommodation (motel rooms but should be called a cabin) really need some TLC. For the price of the family room (160 a night) I would have expected cutlery and crockery to make tea etc. The camp kitchen that we were to use was full of dirty, in-need-of throwing out dinner... What a great place in the middle of nowhere, lovely atmosphere, very cool and friendly staff, clearly doing their very best to satisfy their customers. There is a true family spirit in this place that is definitely confirmed by an outstanding cuisine from their restaurant. We loved the whole experience.

We stayed here for one night with friends visiting us in Alice Springs. Staying in Gleb Helen overnight gave us the chance to spend the day slowly exploring some of the West Macs stops. Glen Helen Lodge is fairly simple but clean and comfortable. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant too. I'd definitely recommend staying here. Make sure... More

Having read many reviews before our stay at Glen Helen, we were under no illusion of what to expect. This is not the Hilton and is not advertised as such.....it is in the middle of nowhere and is a converted cattle station and we loved the uniqueness of the place. Our room was basic but everything worked and the view... More

This place has lots going for it - decent rooms, aircon, free BBQ, paid washing machines, a stunning location with the most fantastic swimming in the Glen Helen gorge water hole, friendly (mostly non-Australian!) staff, both a cheapie and more upmarket restaurant on site, and a brilliant spot to base yourself for 2-3 days touring in the West McDonnell ranges,.... Gorge is interesting but accommodation was appalling. Room run down poorly maintained and many fixtures broken eg split door, broken door lock, no exterior light. Restaurant Ok but overall very expensive for what it was. If the choice is to stay here or go back to Alice get in the car!

My wife and I needed a couple of days away from a busy life in a remote community. This place was wonderful. Accomodation is dated and does require some upkeep but the location, staff, service were terrific. The chef was ill whilst we were there but the food was acceptable even as people filled in. Degfinately we will be going... More

We stayed at the Glen Helen Homestead for 3 nights in a powered site. On arrival the staff were friendly and assisted with check-in. We were also given a restaurant menu and told how great the food was and to come back to make a reservation. Later that afternoon I approached the head waitress to book in for dinner in... More

It's pretty remote so if your expectations are sipping cocktails by the wave pool you may feel let down. If however a beer on the deck overlooking the river to a 50 metre red cliff after wandering back from a swim in the gorge 15 minutes walk along the river sounds your sort of thing its very good. Only about... More

I travelled here with my family in September 2015. I really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Having no TV was no problem (but the poor children, how they suffered when they realised - isn't life tough?!). The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, especially as I had some questions about travelling on the Mereenie... More
