This place is a bit of a lodge, a bit of a caravan park, a bit of a campground, some private tour company permanent camps, day trippers pulling in to see the gorge, a helicopter pad, and goodness knows what else all thrown together in an apparent random fashion. It does not work. The new owners appear a bit defensive.... More

We stayed here for three nights before travelling on to Kings Canyon. We were in a campervan, the facilities (showers and toilets) are very basic and certainly not worthy of "resort" rating. The best thing to be said about this place is the live entertainment provided by Skip, he really made this place come alive. The young staff were also... More

We met some people who had turned around and driven away from Glen Helen because they didn't like the look of the place; all we had eyes for as we approached was the magnificent wall of orange rock behind the homestead building. We had booked five nights in a motel room, an unusually long stay, it seems. We were greeted... More

Dear Roslyn B, Thank you for sharing your experience of Glen Helen Homestead Lodge. It’s always so nice to welcome people for longer stays; from personal experience I know that it only takes a few days to become attached to the area and it very quickly starts to feel like home. There is something to be said for slowing down... More

Despite having the most amazing setting and potential, we were so terribly disappointed by both the state of repair and facilities/amentities during our stay. Completely inadequate number of toilets/showers for the number of guests and the entire property is enveloped in the stench of septic!! Worst of all was the OWNER's shocking approach (I've NEVER been spoken to so rudely)... More

This was my second stay - the first in Aug 2013 as a solo camping experience, this time July 2015 as a couple in the motel room. I loved both stays and would suggest staying here again for anyone looking for a superb overall outback experience. So, the room... very basic, very warm, comfortable bedding, quiet, safe but original 70's... More

I think the word resort is the wrong word here, great natural location but this is just a camp ground with a lovely reception, restaurant, bar area. We stayed 3 nights but next time would only stay the one. The caravan/camper trailer sites are way to close to each other, more space required. Amenity blocks, there are 2, head for... More

Dear Fiona M, Thank you for sharing your experience of Glen Helen Homestead Lodge. We recommend a stay of more than one night to most guests as it allows people time to really explore the area; each section on the trail or getting out to places like Roma Gorge can take a full day and there are so many other... A clean outback homestead offering basic accommodation in the scrub. Top class restaurant that serves meals that you would expect from a 5 star city hotel. Breakfast a bit expensive for what is on offer but I suppose we are in the middle of no where. Our room backed onto generator which chugged along non stop which was somewhat annoying.

Dear Brad A, Thank you for sharing your experience of Glen Helen Homestead. I am so pleased you enjoyed our award winning restaurant, we go to great lengths to offer high quality food despite or remote location. I am also sorry to hear that the generator was disturbing; given our location it is our only means of power and since... More

This place is a fantastic way to break up your journey on the larapinta trail. Warm on the coldest night of the year, the rooms are very basic. The meals are very good and the atmosphere matches in front of an open fire. The gorge itself is a heavenly oasis.

Some people may look for the luxuries in life and want the 5 star luxuries, but to me this was a typical outback place to stay! The staff were ever so friendly and helpful! It is not a luxury hotel, but to me for where it is, it was just perfect! Beautiful scenery and the sunsets on the gorge and... More

We arrived late in the afternoon on our way to Kings Canyon. Our room was small but clean. We went for a walk down the gorge in the afternoon when the sun was shining on the rocks, It was beautiful. Everyone was very friendly. Dinner was nice but a little expensive. It was territory day so we had a fireworks... More
