The chateau is of the right size, neither too grand nor too small, and the side containing the chambres d’hôtes has all one wants: large, spotless, appealing rooms; a lounge with a fireplace and comfortable chairs and sofas, where, before the evening dinner (if that day you chose the table d’hôte), the hosts, Jacquie and Wilfrid, will offer you a... Dear Robert, This is a bit of a cumbersome way to reply to you but just after you both left I realised I had forgotten to take your E-mail addresses ! Thank you so much for your lovely comments - its certainly starts the year off with style! We so enjoyed your stay with us and I do hope the... More

Stayed 2 nights at this gorgeous gorgeous Chateau with my wife and 3 daughters; food at dinner was superb! (thank you Jacquie); since dinner is not served every night, we decided the second night to enjoy a picnic dinner, a sort of Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe, set against the sprawling lawn and the beautiful fountain pool with the Chateau in... If you have ever wanted to live in a Chateau, this is your chance (at least temporarily). This place is the real deal. Proprietors Jacquie and Wilfrid Franc de Ferriere are great hosts, and make you feel right at home. Big bathrooms.

During a busy holiday of travelling in France, we came to rest for 6 days at the wonderful Chateau Carbonneau. The romance and remarkable history of the chateau is deeply intertwined with the family led by Wilfrid and his Kiwi wife Jacquie. It feels like home - albeit a grand home with a fabulous terrace and sparkling pool. The five... More

After finishing a long and horrid drive from Marseille (in bumper to bumper traffic) we arrived in paradise! We were worried that we would miss dinner since we were around an hour late, but they had waited, and had our wine ready for when we sat down. I loved the communal dining with the other guests, and since we were... More

The Glass House at Chateau Carbonneau was a wonderful subject to paint. I won't forget the blue shadows created by plumbago, a gift to any artist. Then everything about this elegant house is very generous, even to the point that they built a pool for the horses to cool their fetlocks in when they arrived. Here you can just drift... More

I thought the place was absolutely beautiful and really such an amazing chateau. Would definitely recommend it in summer as it has a swimming pool and a huge backyard. From there you can visit Bergerac and other really beautiful villages around. My only downside is that I felt there was minimum care e.g. we stayed quite a few nights and... More

This is a beautiful chateau with a park-like garden. The rooms are beautifully decorated, very clean and spacious. We stayed here for one night on our trip to Paris. In the afternoon we enjoyed the beautiful pool. Jacquie and Wilfried were great hosts. Wilfried gave us a very interesting tour through the chateau. In the evening we dined together with... More

My wife and parents stayed two nights in June 2013. We had been travelling through Spain and France and had just arrived from Bordeaux city. After much (enjoyable) traipsing around cities and towns, this was our relaxing stop before hitting Paris. We could not have asked for more. Jacquie, Wilfred, Donut and the cats made us feel right at home... More
