Been here a number of times with my fiance and family. We love it. Never had any problems. Food always fabulous! Staff lovely, very helpful. The menu has a lot of different choice. The new interior is gorgeous. The view is gorgeous and i can't wait to go back! Highly recommended! A********

This was our first visit to The Anchor, taken there by relations. The interior decor is very nice although there are still some unfinished alterations and decorations taking place. There is a very wide menu, catering for all tastes and the standard of the food was excellent. If you are able to sit at a table near the windows, you... More

Please note - I have NEVER felt obliged to write a review on anything before! I am an incredibly fussy eater and mostly eat food out of necessity rather than enjoyment but I have to say, I had the "Creamy Dreamy" - Chicken breast, Pancetta Mushroom and a creamy garlic and mushroom sauce and it was AMAZING. Also followed it... More

Regularly go to the Anchor for Sunday lunch, would recommend it to anyone, the food is always fresh, hot and tasty, certainly the best Yorkshire puddings around. I have always found the staff to be friendly, attentive and helpful and the owners to be visable, welcoming and friendly. They are alway around to ensure tables are cleared timeously and that... we've visited the Anchor numerous times for a drinks when passing well what can i say ....the staff are very strange and have nothing to say and seem totally uninterested in having customers at all! The oddest thing is the manageress's outfits she looks like she's ready for a night out at the dogs not a day's work! We've seen... More

Myself and three friends recently stayed at the Anchor and spent four very nice days in Northumberland. We chose it because of its location, making an ideal base to explore many of the sites and the wonderful countryside. We booked all four rooms, each room being differant, and all being of a high standard. The bed rooms are all furnished and... More

I would like to begin by saying I am not usually a complainer, or anywhere close to a culinary fanatic just an average easy going customer. Until I arrived at the Anchor Inn. A few weeks ago on a Friday evening (around 7pm) myself and four other friends decided to stop for food and soft drinks after a day out.... More

As per other recent bookings I've been exploring alternatives to the main high street brands. I found the Anchor Inn & made my reservation for 2 nights B&B. Location is easy to find with spectacular Northumbrian scenery along the way. I was shown all the way to my room by a female host who was chatty & friendly who showed... More

Stayed a night in April and would definitely stay again. Newly rooms are excellent, comfy bed,tv and nice bathroom The only compliant would be the horrid tea in the room. The evening menu is very good, a bit too much choice made it a difficult decision. We shared a two starters- the pot of prawns and chicken tikka - but... More

The Anchor Inn at Whittonstall is very well placed in quiet beautiful countryside for walkers and proximity to both Hexham and Newcastle. Car parking is right next to the Inn. The Inn itself is a bright and charming hostelry offering very good rooms an excellent breakfast all very well presented. Though we did not have any evening meals here I... More
