Unfortunately I have a rather mixed review . Contrary to the other negative reviews I found Colin to be lovely and very friendly . Let me address some of the other points in the reviews to clarify it : 1- Yes the camp kitchen is old as stated in the reviews but charming and perfect for what we needed and... More

We have been staying at Codrington Gardens for a number of years now. We started off staying in one of the train carriages which was a fun experience. For the last 3 years we have stayed in Olive Tree Cottage which is perfect for our group of 4 adults. Geoff and Yuan always make us welcome and it is fantastic... More

If you want the opportunity to experience the charm and beauty of the 'old red rattlers', then Codrington Gardens has a choice of trains you can choose from. Lovingly restored and meticulously clean, sleeping in one of the train carriages was a welcome treat after the long procession of motel and hotel rooms. The lovely gardens and variety of animals... A perfect place to relax and enjoy a different kind of accommodation. We stayed in an old train carriage which was fun and something out of the ordinary, rooms were clean and spacious, good bathrooms and a veranda with chairs outside.Such beautiful surroundings with great nature, well kept gardens and lots of animals. The owners were really helpful and welcoming.... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us, the vast majority of our guests say how much they enjoyed their visit, but forget to write a review. It's very helpful not only for us but to give prospective guests a better insight into what it's like here. Hope we see you again. More

Decided to get out of Melboune at the last minute for the Australia Day weekend. As we wanted to travel with our two dogs our options were limited. Therefore we were absolutely delighted that we discovered Codrington Gardens which, In my opinion, is a hidden gem and the perfect place to relax away from the city hubbub! We stayed for... More

I visited Codrington Gardens before and felt so relaxed when I returned home I knew it was exactly the break I needed again. In a short period of time the place has been through a lot of change. The gardens are brighter and more vibrant with a new collection of animals to visit at every turn. Even the fine details... More

Thank you very much, it's exciting for us also when a returning guest reflects on the progress of our work here. Creates encouragement and reward. Love to see you again, lots of work now being focused on the gardens since we've stopped "building". More

Great place with a difference! We travelled with our 6 and 8 yo and it was perfect. Each morning the kids woke up and went for a walk to say good morning to all the animals. In the evening a similar routine to say good night. Holding baby chicks, talking with the Cockatoo, watching the Al Pacas, ... always chatting... More

Thanks for your comments, you've echoed the comments made to us by almost all our family visitors, the kids don't want to leave and the parents have a relaxing time knowing the kids are having safe fun on a secure property. That's what it's all about. Fresh air, fabulous starry nights, back to the roots fun! Hope to see you... More

My wife, 2 girls ages 10 and 13, and pet labrador stayed for four nights in the "Bondi Express" carriage between Christmas and New Year. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Codrington Gardens and the surrounding area. Our main reason for picking CG was that it was pet friendly. There were several beaches close by where the dog could run... More

Thanks for your review. If someone wanted more "luxury", we do have a room that's significantly more luxurious, it's the Settlers Luxury Cottage, was rated 4.5 star by AAA (when we used to bother getting the ratings done). We built the Settlers Luxury Cottage as the Honeymoon Suite, we have weddings here occasionally. The trains used to get 3.5 star... More

Some of the reviews of this place have made me laugh people moaning on about insects and nature encroaching ....does make me wonder why they bother to leave home. If you do want something different staying in a beautifully restored train carriage could be it. We stayed two nights with our 4 year old twins. They loved the place. More... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and adding a balance to the reviews we've had. Unfortunately it seems that if someone has a gripe they go out of their way to tell everyone, whereas if someone has enjoyed their holiday they go home relaxed and the last thing they think about is writing a review, consequently... Stopped with Geoff and Yuan in October this year whilst visiting Australia and travelling Great Ocean Rd. Accommodation was top class and it was great to wander around the gardens seeing the various animals. Geoff and Yuan were very friendly and hospitable with advice on visits to local attractions. We would be very happy to stay there again and would... More

Thanks for taking the time to write that review, it is very helpful to us, the percentage of guests that take the time to write reviews is massively disproportionately between happy and unhappy guests. Unhappy people go out of their way to find a way to vent, happy people go home happy and relaxed and the last thing they think... More
