We ate here on two separate occasions during our holiday. We met the new owner. I cannot comment on the hotel side, just the bar and restaurant. We sat outside for a few drinks. It was very pleasant. The only drawback being the road you have to cross to get to the garden. For the first meal I had tempura... More

Stopped off here for a couple of drinks and the staff were friendly and accommodating, (sometimes it's quite difficult walking into a place you have never been!) Loved the quirky music! Now can't wait to go in again and have a meal. Lovely setting too!

When booking our stay at The George in April, the hotel's website showed a room rate of £90 per night with no clear references to any seasonal price increases. However, we arrived at the hotel to find we were being charged a completely different rate of £130 per night for our room. The hotel staff conceded that the website had... More

Many thanks for your comments which I have discussed with the managers who were on duty that day. Firstly let me cover the point that you make about the management conceding that the website was confusing, what they were referring to was the old website where every room had a rate that varied every month, this was ultra confusing so... The George is situated near the Cley Windmill, and is an impressive well-run hotel, not part of a chain, and with friendly helpful staff. There were three of us visiting: two of us booked the Cley Suite, and the third Room 6. Room 6 affords magnificent views across the marshes, while the Cley Suite faces the back, but has the... More

Thank you very much for your comments and I am glad that you enjoyed the rooms at the George. It was brought to my attention about the vegetarian issue when it arose at the hotel and you will be pleased to note that our menu which changes this weekend will have extra vegetarian dishes on it. We have many vegetarians... More

We stopped by The George Hotel a couple of days ago for drinks, some food and even considered staying a night. It all went great, till we ordered two cappuccinos and were served by a young woman with a lot of attitude to start off with and no knowledge how to make a cappuccino. When I took the coffee back... Hi Many thanks for raising this issue and I have spent some time trying to get to the bottom of what went wrong with your cappuccino. I understand that you were not happy with how it was prepared and you took it back saying that it tasted of coffee, water and milk, the lady behind the bar then seems to... More

We recently had an overnight stay at the George as part of an Anniversary break. There was a bit of a mix up at check-in but think the young girl must have been a bit inexperienced. She couldn't find our booking in the diary and asked if I was several other names. I took a look myself and then found... More

Many thanks for your comments which are always most appreciated. I am not sure what went wrong when you arrived but it was probably a new member of staff who was getting used to the booking system as you yourself correctly guessed, however as you managed to find the booking yourself it clearly cannot be that difficult to use, so... I booked to stay at The George through Secret Escapes. The hotel is in a really quaint town which looks out into the marsh and sea. The hotel is gorgeous, rooms were really comfy and we had a great view. Food was delicious local fresh sea food which was a lovely treat. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating... More

We recently stayed at The George as part of a secret escapes deal and had a deluxe room (Room 9) at the top of the pub with a view looking out over the marsh and Windmill. The service on arrival was very friendly and we were shown to our room on the top floor. The room itself was simple, clean... More

We stayed here many times in the past, we didn't realise it had changed hands until we got there. All though nothing much has changed apart from the decor slightly and the room rates have gone up. What was really astonishing was that breakfast apparently isn't included? Although our receipt said "bed and breakfast". I rang and question it and... More
