Tried to determine, by using the website to avoid a wasted journey if and when the cafe would be open. No details on the website. As it was early July and midweek assumed they would be open - big mistake, the cafe was closed with a sign stating that opening times were on the notice board. Checking the notice board... More

Unfortunately, our experience of the crab sandwiches at Cookes was one of disappointment. The sandwich filling seemed to comprise of mostly brown crab meat with an unfortunate dressing, the whole presenting an unappetising brown mush. It was impossible to taste the crab. We left most of the sandwiches and remarked to the waitress that they were not good. Her reply... More

Popped. In here for a light lunch. What a great place. The staff are really helpful. I had a very nice crab sandwich and a nice cup of red bush tea. Top tip. Come for the Crab which is available at lunch time.

We stopped just for a breakfast and enjoyed a meal! Ha vegetarian option of English Breakfast and a bun with egg and ham. yummy. The place is very nicely decorated and staff was friendly. Quiet that time Thursday around 11.

We were greeted at the door by one of the owners, stayed in lovely rooms with decent showers and they organised breakfast for us specifically early. Only stayed one night but would definitely go back.

They serve breakfast at the weekends until 11.30, so we thought we'd try it. We entered their tearooms and there was a lovely log fire burning. The room is beautifully decorated in seaside colours and feels very homely. A gentleman welcomed us and took our order. We had a full English with tea/coffee. They also served us toast with butter... The B&B is clean and tidy breakfast is fine also but the lack of interest shown by the and girl in the tearoom just made feel uncomfortable and to be told at 4.55 that we couldnt order a coffee and cake from the ajoining tearoom as they close at 5.00 didn't make us feel welcome either. Wouldn't stay here again.

This is a basic, clean and tidy guest house no more no less. The cooked breakfasts are very enjoyable and there are cereals and fruit as well. It was absolutely fine for a weekend away, I wouldn't have wanted to stay their any longer. The proprietor was friendly and helpful.

We went to this rather run down tea gardens. Could have done with a make over. Man serving was very unfriendly tea was weak and coffe onl;y just acceptable. Scones were warm and nice but rather overprised. Will try further up the road next time.

We stayed here for two nights at short notice. They didn't have an en suite room available but we had our own private bathroom just opposite our room which was fine. Unfortunately the shower seal was dodgy which resulted in a water leak due to the shower head pointing in the wrong direction. This slightly tainted the atmosphere on our... More
