My wife and I were considering staying the day before but did not go due to a last minute delay, so we ended up going the following day just to eat. We were lucky not to have stayed in this place. Food was not good at all, extremely expensive and the lack of grounds maintenance was obvious everywhere you looked.... More

For your own good stay somewhere else. We initially stayed at a different place and stumpled upon this place and thought it would be perfect for our small kids, because of the pools, playground etc. We saw a room and got a price of 150 all inclusive. The next day we checked out of our other hotel and came here.... More

This hotel hosted our Phoenix, Arizona-based Habitat for Humanity team. I have to admit that when headed to Nicaragua for a Habitat build my expectations were relatively low, but these accommodations far exceeded what I was expecting. It isn't your typical Hilton or Marriott property in the US, but we are in small-town Nicaragua here. Expectations should be adjusted. Through... More

The base hotel for Habitat for Humanity for a house build in a local community. The hotel rooms were adequate and had comfortable beds, although after working 8 hours on a concrete house, almost anything would be comfortable. Room lacked a secure safe, although there was a locked wooden box - basically to keep the honest people honest is my... More

Suggest you stay away as food is very poor compared to surrounding area restaurant. There are many local beachfront homes to rent that typically come with a housekeeper who will cook great local dishes. Look on homeaway.com for 1.3 acre property in pochomil viejo.

I always choose my hotels based on recommendations from friends or great tripadvisor reviews. I didn't choose this hotel and I was a bit worried about staying here after reading the reviews. I was with a group of 14 people from Canada. We came to help build a house with Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua and this is the hotel that... More

The picture are tricky, once you get there you realize that you gotta not so good deal. Do not use the restaurant, always short of food and the quality is poor. The room could be nice but they lack maintenance.

I stayed here for a week with a group in January. The location is good, although apart from the beach there is not much within close walking distance. The hotel/resort grounds are beautiful, nicely landscaped and set back in the trees just off an almost empty stretch of beach with soft fine sand and stunning sunset views and a couple... More

It has been my pleasure to stay at the Vistamar 4 times now. Each visit has been in January as a member of a mission team from the USA. The lovely setting and comfortable accommodations are a treat to return to after a long day working at medical clinics, playing with children during VBS, returning from construction projects and conducting... I stayed at this hotel as part of a group and included in the total price of the trip, so I can't speak to the price/value, but there are so many little things that could make this place so much better. The hotel is on a great beach that can be walked for miles. The sunsets are spectacular, and the... More
