Mercedes and Carla, the two ladies who run the hotel, are absolutely wonderful! It's a charming, authentic place with only 8 rooms. Very clean room and bathroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here for three nights. We chose a superior room, which was a good size and had a reasonably sized bathroom with a bath and a good shower over the bath. The room was simply but stylishly furnished with exposed original stone walls from what is a renovated former priest's house. The hotel has three floors and usefully has...

I stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst I was touring La Rioja. The building is a beautifully converted house, over 300 years old. All the renovations have been carried out expertly and sensitively and the finish is top class. Regardless of the decor, its the lovely owners- Clara and Mercedes- who made this stay extra special. Clara sat...

We stayed here for one night en route home from our annual trip to southern Spain. The owners were extremely helpful, giving us a wealth of information about the area and maps of how to get to the nearby town of Haro for an evening meal. The centre of Haro was fantastic - vibrant and with superb tapas bars which...

From the moment we arrived, Clara & Mercedes couldn't have done enough for us. The suggestions they made for us to discover parts of The Rioja we otherwise wouldn't have found, plus booking a winery tour and suggesting places to eat.
Our room was huge and the bed extremely comfy.
Breakfast was also huge and beautifully presented.
The only downside...

Very friendly and informative hosts. Hearty breakfast. Books and DVDs available for down time. Two things which are rare for this area in this price range: 1. the KING bed is extremely comfortable and firm and 2. the bedroom and bathroom are very large. Modern fixtures throughout. The only possible drawback is that the town rooster can get started early....

Beautiful place in the heart of Alta Rioja. Were well informed and advised by the la capellania management how to plan our excursions to wineries and ancient places.
Hotel (1798) is a blend of antique preserved and modern interior design. It is recommended to travel by car as San Asensio doesn't offer many places to eat. We hope to come...

We found the hotel on TripAdvisor and it delivered in all respects.
Going through the wide wooden door took us into a delightful castle like atrium and the stonework has been extremely well preserved.
Clara and Mercedes are most welcoming hosts and told of the best local towns of Haro and Briones and, of course, the best Rioja wines.
There...

We stayed for two nights on a brief tour of Spain. We were made very welcome even with very limited spanish. The room was large, modern, clean and well kept. The comfortable downstairs sitting area had access to good wine, beer and soft drinks. The hosts arranged an english language tour of the Herrero winery for us. this was one...

A small b&b in a renovated 15th century home in the small town of San Asensio, 15 minutes from Haro. Run by Clara and Mercedes, hostesses who went out of their way to help us map a great wine tasting itinerary and see the local sites. A lovely breakfast, elegant and simple decor, and a quiet friendly place to sleep...
