What a perfectly charming hotel! We chose it because it was right smack bang on the bus stop for the S1 into Oxford, a bus that supplies wifi making Skype calls with colleagues possible on the journey in, but we got a lot more than travel convenience for our money. The twin room was fantastic with a stunning view over... More

I went here for lunch with my family and what I like about this is place is two things: you can take your dog, and it's a traditional pub which creates a cosy atmosphere. The location is fantastic right by the river, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I had a fish finger sandwich and my bread... More

Eat and drank here on two nights. Food was excellent and good value. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The locally brewed beers are well worth trying. Premises were very clean and were tastefully decorated which lent to a great atmosphere. No problem recommending this place to any traveller.

While staying at a nearby campsite, decided to pay a visit to The Talbot Inn for our evening meal with our friends. We were shown to a table, once seated the young lady took our order for drinks giving us time to look at the menu. There were so many delicious meals to choose from, with prices to reflect the... I needed a fairly cheap room for a visit to Oxford and stayed at the Talbot Inn in one of the budget rooms. The room was absolutely fine - very basic but very clean and the breakfast was lovely and staff very friendly. A kettle and tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits, and clean towels and a hairdryer were provided. Could... More

Stopped here for one night to meet up with some work colleague. The Talbot is a small country pub next to a canal/river, it was dark. The rooms were quite nice and perfectly adequate for a nights stay. They could definitely do with a bit of tlc and a lick of paint, however they were pretty good value for this... More

Stopped off on the way home with very hungry bellies, choice of carvery or off menu. It's a lovely place, decking by the river for warmer days, had my disabled daughter with us, wheelchair access was good. Staff were attentive & helpful, food was lovely, we were there late & carvery was still good. The only reasons for not giving... More

We had the misfortune of staying at the Talbot Inn recently. Should having taken heed of the reviews, but the photographs looked so beautiful that we could not resist. Our room – no 9 – was awful, nothing like the pretty pictures. The room was very small. The floor was so dirty that we put down newspaper to protect our... More

Thank you for your frank and forthright review. You clearly have an eye for detail. It's a shame that your eye for detail failed you when making the reservation via Laterooms as you would have noticed that these rooms are our simple and functional rooms in the original building, as described on our website and Laterooms. We make no effort... More

Had business in the town and wanted a light bite. The outside looked attractive and no problem to bring the terrier in. Nice traditional but very clean decor. Good ales on draught - barrels on display. Food was of the traditional type but well done and just what was needed that day. Staff were friendly and efficient. Only poor point... More

Many thanks for your lovely review, we are justly proud of The Talbot. We note your comment about the wines but we feel that our list is suitable for the pub. All of our wines are of a ggod quality and we offer 4 different whites and 4 different reds plus 3 x rose and some bubbles. We hope you... More
