Loved our stay in this 400 year old inn. A very comfortable room with free WiFi. Lovely breakfast and we ate dinner in the bar area too. What atmosphere! Many original features, but tall people take care with the low ceilings!

Nice food... When the chef had actually got what we wanted to order (from the menu) in stock! Miserable staff ... Product knowledge, what's that? The lady had only been on shift 4 hours and still couldn't tell us what the soup was Shame we're local. Keep trying the place Customer service in the restaurant = 0

I visited the Red Lion this week for a once night stay whilst on a business trip. First impressions great, old, with character and quirky. Breakfast was superb with no complaints, I never had an evening meal although the menu looked good. I stayed in room 15 which was on the top floor and classed as a superior room. It... More

If you're fed up of ' same old, same old' impersonal places - this is the place for you! Every room is different and all have their own quirky personality. ... sometimes the shower takes an age to run hot, the floorboards are uneven - but it's all part of the charm. The welcome is warm, Dan and the team... More

We chose this inn for it being central for 3 couples who met on holiday having a re-union and because it appeared to have plenty of character. Some parts of the inn are over 400 years old with magnificent fireplaces in the bar and some of the bedrooms. The bedrooms certainly have character, with 2 of our rooms having the... More

Just arrived home from a weekend stay at the red lion with friends. We found the hotel online after searching for dog friendly hotels, and we're so glad we did!! The staff couldn't have been more lovely with our pooch (greyhound). We got rooms 6 & 15 which were both great. We got room 6, which was incredible. Huge four... More

After leaving a bad review at Christmas, it seemed only fair to leave a better one for our second visit. The food was delicious and the service was as good. This visit, we had no issues and left much happier than before. If all visits to The Red Lion are like this, it's worth going.

Out of all the pubs around the local area, we decided to visit the Red Lion due to it's previous known strong reputation for good service and high quality food. However, after visiting today - this was most certainly not the case! One of the other waiters apologised several times throughout our meal due to one member of staff being... More

Room was perfect for me, not the biggest but clean and felt very homely. Nice hot shower and tv and Heater were fine. Dined in and the food was excellent and service good too. Nice selection of real ales too. Will be staying again

Lovely hotel, lots of character with period stairs in a beautiful old building, a hotel with a great feel and atmosphere. Staff were flexible which was great given that the clocks went back on Sunday, and let us stay in bed for an extra hour before check out, so grateful for that given we were out the night before!
