Had a delicious meal on a Saturday evening in the bar, with some different offerings from the usual bistro type food on the menu. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive and the setting was relaxed and informal. Food delicious and not overly expensive.

I was all set to give this place a five star review as I woke up, slightly hungover, in my comfy bed on Sunday morning. Then I went down to breakfast. The inn is very pretty, with a great bar/restaurant area and the rooms are nicely done. We had a twin room in the annexe and it was great -... More

Another stop on our walk of the ridgeway. A good welcome as we appeared dripping and muddy in their doorway: " come in , no don't worry about your boots" and service was prompt, attentive and friendly. Shown very quickly to our rooms and the radiator promptly turned up. Good value comfortable accommodation in a unit aside from the pub... More

It was a delight to stay here. So much character and lots of comfort factors. Big fluffly duvets, extra coffee, hot chocolate and fruit teas in the rooms. Lots of toiletries and lotions. The inn has a lot of character and the staff work hard to please. We enjoyed our stay.

We called in following a direction to the restaurant on a website suggesting places to eat just off the motorway and we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. We are well looked after and despite food not being available immediately we were kept informed about when the kitchen opened. This is a restaurant that I will... More

Popped in for an evening meal only to be met with no green vegetables at all with any of the main courses on the menu - just variations of meat and potatoes. We opted for cumberland sausages and crushed potatoes. When it arrived some 20 minutes later, we asked for some mustard. A small jar of mustard was presented with... More

Dear guest, I am sorry that did not enjoy your evening meal with us. I am sorry for your haphazard visit. It was a Monday where we struggle to keep our larder stocked with many items such as veg, mustard etc. We offered steamed kale as a veg with you sausage and crushed potatoes. You later let us know that... More

I booked a room at the fat fox as a nee years eve break for myself, my husband & our 6 month old baby boy. In arrival we were taken to our room which was lovely. We had a drink in the bar in the afternoon & I asked for some towels as there wasn't any in our room. I... More

Dear Guest, I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. I shall speak to our house keeping team regarding the omission of towls in your room. The towels that were brought to you were freshly laundered by an external company, however it is stored in an unheated store room which make them feel 'damp' rather than cold.... More

Have been here to eat many times and its always excellent - a highlight of visiting my mother is getting to eat here! Stayed one night after a local party and the room was great. Nice selection of teas and even a kitkat to scoff before breakfast - which was also very good. Only slight criticism was that breakfast service... More
