I stayed at the Fat Fox for one night whist away on business. The establishment is situated in a lovely rural village and is its self full of country character. On arrival I was met by the very friendly and helpful landlord how got me checked very quickly and showed me to my room. The room itself was situated in... More

I stayed here after a 30 mile walk on the Ridgeway and the friendly welcome, coupled with the little touches as other reviewers have mentioned, were just what we needed to revitalise the tired bodies. Food and beer was delicious and rooms were to a high standard. I was in an "economy" room, but nothing about it spoke of economising... More

We stayed here while walking the Ridgeway and it was spot on. Our room in a converted stable block was large and airy. The leather covered boat bed was extremely comfortable. The food was of a good pub standard,I had a lovely grilled tuna nicotine, and for breakfast, eggy bread!!. The staff were all cheerful and friendly, and it was... More

Stayed here for one night while walking "The Ridgeway" with a friend, The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. The twin room we were given outside and to the rear of the hotel was freshly decorated and very well serviced. Inside the bar/restaurant was clean, tidy and traditional and was very busy on the evening we stayed, although the... More

Looking for somewhere good to eat on return trip from Wembley and to cheer us up! This certainly fitted the bill, with real ales and superb food. I and my Daughter had what was possibly the best battered fish & chips we've ever had. The alternative of seasonal veg for my daughter who will not eat peas was most welcome... More

This review is just for the Fat Fox restaurant not the B&B. My friend picked up a voucher for this restaurant, which we tend to use for a first visit to decide if it's worth going back to! we all enjoyed our first course, but my friends fiance and I went for the venison curry, his meat was very fatty... I am sorry to hear that you were not happy with the way that your comments were dealt with during your visit recently. We asked how your food was and you said that your venison madras was not as good as your starter. We appologised, and sympothised with you at the time. We then went and tried a portion of... More

We used the Fat Fox Inn as a stopping point for our weekend walk along the Ridgeway. And it proved to be a very sound choice. The pub area is welcoming, cosy and warm with a roaring log fire. Great selection of real ales and a friendly, slightly upmarket atmosphere. The owner and his staff provided consistently first class service... More

Unexpected delight. Traditional but not stuffy, eclectic decor but not out of keeping with the historic building. A wide ranging, keenly priced menu, generous portions, cooked to order, what more could you want? Oh yes good beer and wine as well. Comfy seats, papers & a crackling fire. Scotch egg and parfait highly recommended. The game bird pie was served... More

I can strongly recommend a stay at the Fat Fox Inn. This was a glorious experience from start to finish. The proprietors, John and Katy, clearly take great pride in giving attention to every possible detail from the hot chocolate and bath products in the bedroom to the delicious sausages at breakfast time. The decor is traditional and classic but... More

We were impressed with the room but disappointed with the food and service...while we were there (Sat night) there was no 'Front of house' presence or atmosphere..the pub seems to be run by teenagers, who although perfectly pleasant were chatting amongst themselves or on their phones....Although we had booked a table the dining room was empty ( which speaks volumes!)... I was so sorry to hear that you had a disappointing visit to the Fat Fox on Saturday night. I too was disappointed as it was a rare Saturday night off so I greatly saddend to learn that the team had not performed to our standards which should be maintain as strenuously in my absense as when I am there....
