We visited this pub on a recommendation. 2 adults, a baby, 1 normal sized dog and 1 giant dog. It seemed pleasant enough and the locals were friendly . We got menus and I was disappointed to see only 1 vegetarian option. I am not the biggest leek fan but had no choice but to order the leek and cheese... More

Four of us stayed here whilst walking the Ridgeway. The beer was very good and welcoming after a days walking! The evening meal was fantastic, I had the sea bass which was so tasty, couldn't be faulted. The other three had the steak which was cooked to perfection for all of them. The wine list was good and expansive. Lovely... More

What a great find, very reasonable room prices, great beer and good food. The service is exceptionally friendly. I have to admit, I love staying at pub hotels/B&Bs, to be able to have a few drinks then just to roll into bed is great. The atmosphere here is of a friendly local pub, and despite only staying one night, we... More

My husband and I stayed here with our small dog while hiking along the Ridgeway trail and it was a nice surprise to find such a nice room after so many hours walking through the countryside. The bathroom had a big bathtub and plenty of amenities, the room was big, the bed was very comfortable and there even was a... More

I was in the area and found this independent inn through TA. I prefer the non corporate hotels where available. Easy to find off the M40 - about 10 mins. Car park behind the pub. The rooms were in a separate barn across the car park from the main pub building. A few tables outside to enjoy if weather permits.... More

I stayed at the Fat Fox for one night whist away on business. The establishment is situated in a lovely rural village and is its self full of country character. On arrival I was met by the very friendly and helpful landlord how got me checked very quickly and showed me to my room. The room itself was situated in... More

I stayed here after a 30 mile walk on the Ridgeway and the friendly welcome, coupled with the little touches as other reviewers have mentioned, were just what we needed to revitalise the tired bodies. Food and beer was delicious and rooms were to a high standard. I was in an "economy" room, but nothing about it spoke of economising... More

We stayed here while walking the Ridgeway and it was spot on. Our room in a converted stable block was large and airy. The leather covered boat bed was extremely comfortable. The food was of a good pub standard,I had a lovely grilled tuna nicotine, and for breakfast, eggy bread!!. The staff were all cheerful and friendly, and it was... More

Stayed here for one night while walking "The Ridgeway" with a friend, The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. The twin room we were given outside and to the rear of the hotel was freshly decorated and very well serviced. Inside the bar/restaurant was clean, tidy and traditional and was very busy on the evening we stayed, although the... More

Looking for somewhere good to eat on return trip from Wembley and to cheer us up! This certainly fitted the bill, with real ales and superb food. I and my Daughter had what was possibly the best battered fish & chips we've ever had. The alternative of seasonal veg for my daughter who will not eat peas was most welcome... More
