From the outside the hotel does not look very imposing, part hidden amongst dense vegetation. Yet it is a sizeable house with 22 rooms built in the mixed colonial/Mediterranean style. Most surprisingly, it was designed and constructed by Hugo, its friendly and charismatic owner. There is a cavernous hallway with communal TV and a spacious veranda at the front, perfect... More

The location is perfect. The building and deco are impeccable. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious. And the people who work there (especially charming Hugo and his lovely wife) are the nicest people ever. What more could you possibly want? Enjoy!

We reserved the Suite and then had to change the room for a smaller on the second floor, but the owners made no problems at all and they were extremely helpful. Hugo and Alicia, the owners, are extremely helpful with recommendations to entertainment, dinning, and beaches to visit. Their service people are extremely polite as well and the breakfast a... We stayed only one night at this hotel and we loved it since the very moment we arrived. If you are a lover of bigh hotel chains and their standarized amenities and service, tjis is not your place. Located just across the street from the beach and mantra huts, it is ideal for both summer and low season. La bluetter... More

Scott M, Ellen K. The colonial-style premises, with a tree-lined courtyard and swimming pool, are charming and spacious. The owners Hugo and Alicia were extremely helpful and invariably cheerful. They helped us with restaurant recommendations/reservations, car rental and directions. Hugo even drove us to La Alberca, a fabulous local restaurant. The breakfasts were wonderfully prepared. The hotel is located in... More

Have just returned from a trip to South America including Uruguay where we stayed at this delightful boutique hotel. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Hugo and Alicia, the owners, who showed us round the property and gave us helpful tips on restaurants and places to visit in the area. The owners' interest in art is carried over into... More

We booked through Bookings.com. 2 rooms! When we arrived the 2 rooms were actually one with a curtain divided. Not acceptable for 2 men who both snore. The rooms were charged in advance, and the manager refused to refund the overcharge and stated that I would need to deal with my credit card company to resolve the issue. Classic bait... More

Punta del Este, Uruguay, a Must See for a Trip to South America. The Challenge comes on where to stay. Accommodations are not easy to find and they can be expensive. Our Recommendation: Hotel „La Bluette,” La Barra, just north of Punta del Este. The Hotel is small and privately owned by an Argentine Diplomat and his Wife, Alicia and... More
