Stayed while doing Hadrian Wall way. Convenient for the path. Fantastic, comfortable, warm hostel/ bunkhouse. We had the private room which was comfortable and ensuite. Breakfast v good. Paula good company over breakfast and provided good advice for the way ahead. Can't fault it.

Paula gave me a great welcome. The bunkhouse is worth all its 4 star rating. Comfortable and homely and everything very clean. Breakfast was a bit crazy sharing with a cycle racing team but everyone got fed and watered. A most enjoyable stay.

This is slightly unusual that it is partly a hostel and partly a B and B. It is totally comfortable, totally welcoming and totally friendly. Our experience started when we met the farm's oldest resident who let us into our room. This was followed up by host Paula and the kids. The family have been on this farm for over... More

We arrived on a chilly December day to a pipping hot cottage, ahhh bliss. We were celebrating a special birthday and the cottage comfortably accommodated six adults. Four returned home after a long weekend leaving two of us for a few days on our own. Paula and Jeff are wonderful hosts and will do anything to make sure your holiday... More

I've walked Hadrian's Wall three times - 2009, 2010, 2014 and stayed here all three times. At the end of my first day of walking my friend and I found ourselves at Houghton North Farm and I began a love of northern England, the people there, and walking Hadrian's Wall. Paula, the proprietor here could not be nicer nor more... More

We had a great welcome by a friendly host. Rooms were comfortable if basic but just what we needed. It’s not far into Heddon for a couple of Pubs for food and refreshment. We loved the farmyard atmosphere.

Situated in a quiet atmosphere along the way of our Hadiran's Wall walk, the place is well managed and does make you feel like you are visiting your relatives. The host is very hospitable and attentive. We were offered a lift to nearby pub as we had not book a dinner. The room was very atmospheric and very nice bathroom.... More

Paula as our host was very very accommodating and really helped us with local knowledge. The property and accommodation was very clean and the rooms had all we needed at an affordable price. The dogs were great fun. Thanks..

We rode into the barnyard of the farm and exchanged glances. But then the border terriers were so cute and Paula greeted us, we knew all was well. This isn't an actual farm stay, but delightful just the same. This is a good value, rooms were clean and simple. Our room had a shower for which one had to pull... More

Relaxed atmosphere: Down-to-earth family, very sweet dogs, a farm in the family for 3 generations, with all that was needed for guests. Plenty of choice for accommodation. Paula had thoughtfully chosen my room next to the kitchen, as i was supporting my nephews and mates, walking the wall in memory of their mum, 10 years on. The kitchen was perfect... More
