My wife and I have eaten many times in The Plough and have never been disappointed. The menu isn't large, but that's usually a good sign in that the food is freshly cooked. as it is in The Plough. There's no boil-in-the bag meals here! There's always a Specials' Board and occasionally "themed" weeks. Last week it was Curry Week... More

This was our third stay at The Plough and again we had a very comfortable stay. Check in was smooth and very friendly, information about breakfast times and evening meals very helpful. Our room was warm and clean and the bed very comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities and a good size TV were provided. Plenty of hot water in... More

My wife and I and our 2 friends stayed here when returning from a short break in East Yorkshire. The rooms were excellent, very bright and airy and of a very high standard. Very comfortable bed, excellent flat screen wall mounted TV, free coffee and tea facilities in the room. The bathroom was spotless, though the shower was probably in... More

Had dinner in The Plough whilst staying in Cresswell. Ordered Red Lamb Chops with vegetables. The two chops were large, tender and perfectly cooked It was busy so there was a wait but the staff were charming and helpful. I thoroughly recommend this excellent pub..

My sister and I stayed here on the first night of our Newcastle-Edinburgh cycle ride, and I would definitely recommend it. The room was simple, clean and comfortable - the wooden furniture was beautiful and good quality and the bathroom was large (albeit with a slightly strange layout). The beds were very comfortable. We did hear a bit of noise... More

Stayed in a twin room ,room was well equipped with a large bathroom. Owner and staff really friendly, best breakfast ever! This hotel is 5 minutes away from the hospital so handy if you are travelling to see someone. Room one directly above the extractor fan for the kitchen so avoid it if you are a veggie as the steak...
