I have stayed at The Old Ship many times and I think it’s FANTASTIC. Its great value for money, always a warm welcome, it’s clean and entertaining in the bar. Jackie works very hard to ensure you enjoy your stay. The Old Ship is defiantly recommended.

Fantastic little hotel, stayed here with work for a few weeks, really enjoyed it, clean rooms, great shower and a very enjoyable sea view. Jackie made us very welcome, and could not do enough to make us feel welcome.

I stayed at the Old Ship when a relative was in the nearby hospital (Wansbeck). My room was clean and comfortable and had great views directly onto the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the noise coming up from the bar until the early hours of the morning.

I stayed here last night with my three children in a family room!! I wasn't expecting much because of price!! Wow!! What a beautiful hidden gem!! The room was spacious, with an ensuite and a beautiful view of the bay! The room had tea and coffee available, also free view tv and free access to old ships wifi I thought... More

Having read some of the reviews here on Trip Advisor, I was prepared for disappointment, but I have to say that I was quite impressed with the Old Ship. As other positive reviews have said, the landlady Jackie is very welcoming and helpful, and something else that I don't think has been mentioned is that she really cares about serving... More

Rajz46 was spot on, I couldnt agree more, the price was good and the welcome was warm, the atmosphere welcoming, and the locals were great. Easy too find, on high street. I always check reviews on trip advisor but tend to check things out for my self, some people can give such bad impressions. Highly recommended would definitely stay again.

This is a really lovely old building in this traditional seaside town and well worth a visit. My husband and I were staying localy and were out for a walk and decided to call in for a drink. This a warm, friendly traditional pub with a good atmosphere. Used by local people, visitors like us and residents, so a mixed... More

Have just returned from a two night stay at The Old Ship and was a little hesitant given the review by Kaggs_13 and Ronald F, however I could not fault the place. Yes there is work on going, but after speaking to the Landlady Jackie, who explained how hard she is trying to improve the place, (something I can appreciate... More

About 4 years ago I visited this hotel and had a couple of wonderful evening meals there. So, I thought I'd go and stay there on this last trip. Arrived at the hotel about 2.00pm and the place was locked up like Fort Knox. Finally found a door and gave it a good bang. We were greeted with - you're... More
