We have been eating here for many years and have always received excellent food and service but have decided to stop eating here on saturday evenings because they really overstretch themselves. Its always heaving and very noisy. I feel sorry for the staff as they are absolutely rushed off their feet, so inevitably there are delays and errors and they... More

Travelled back from Brighton early evening and decided to book a hotel in Northamptonshire. Could have booked the Hilton or Holiday Inn for £70 but decided on a quaint alternative with good reviews. Priced at £80 inc breakfast for a standard very small room with only a double not king sized bed, and overlooking the back of the inn with... More

They got my food order wrong. So what, mistakes are easy made. But it was so refreshing to have a genuine apology and have all the staff be friendly and make every effort to make up for it and enable our evening to continue to be enjoyable. Good food, great steak, great staff = great place to eat!

Hello Jeff. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your kind comments on Tripadvisor following your recent visit to The Pytchley. Our small plate options have proved very popular: not only with our more senior guests, but with famlies looking for good quality home-cooked food without breaking the bank balance! We are so pleased that you enjoyed... More

Visited for Sunday lunch. Impressed with the variety in the menu but particularly the availability of smaller portion sizes for those will smaller appetites. Sunday lunch: Pork, roast potatoes, caul cheese, brocalli, carrots, stuffing, apple sauce and gravy. The pork was very tender. Generous portion of everything. Fillet steak, chips, peas. Steak was a good size, cooked to perfection and... More

Thank you stroppymare, for your very generous comments and detailed review (which thankfully did not reflect your pen name in any way!). It sounds as if this may have been your first visit to The Pytchley and so I am particularly pleased that you found our staff to be welcoming and attentive and the menu to offer a range of... More

For many years visiting Northampton to see family and friends, the Pytchley is the place we mostly go to eat, their food is more than excellent, along with the welcome and service. Our last visit last weekend we endulged in their mixed grill, please make sure you arrive hungry it was the best we have ever tasted. Over the years... More

How lucky we are to have The Pytchley as our local place to eat. The food is always fantastic and more that caters for me being a fussy vegetarian!! The welcome is always warm and inviting, be it from the owner Jim - who is a real treasure - to any other member of staff. It's a great place to... More

My father discovered the Pytchley decades ago whilst working in the Northamptonshire area as a telecoms engineer. Dad is a true carnivore and loved their steaks, mixed grills etc. He brought us - me, my sisters and my mum, to the Pytchley many times across the years, even though it is a 45 minute drive North of his home because...
