Nice setting on the Chiltern way. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and had our evening meals. Good sized rooms with nice bathroom. Evening food was nice pub menu and our meals were very good. Breakfast was traditional English and set us up for the days sightseeing. Everyone was friendly and the food was good. Definitely somewhere I... More

Basically a Pub with some rooms. Plenty of parking and a warm welcome from the Landlady. Good sized room with plenty of space, but no furniture ! No desk, no chair, no wardrobe. Nice new bathroom. Food in the pub is reasonable, and quite well priced. Good selection of real ales. Breakfast is ordinary, with machine coffee and no fruit... More

We went for a so called Tapas night recently at the Chequers and although I was doubtful they could pull it off I was totally amazed at the sub standard food that was dished up! None of the food was tapas, large plates of dried up Tuna smothered in jarred sauce, frozen calamari in bread crumbs, meatballs with no seasoning... More

excellent location in a pretty Bedfordshire village next to the church. This is a traditional pub serving good British ales and wholesome food at reasonable prices... It is getting increasingly rare to find these types of pubs now unfortunately

Worth a stop if you're walking around the many paths of the Bedfordshire countryside. Relaxing place to stop for an hour and a couple of pints, although sunny weekends will attract the normal quota of whingeing, whining spoilt kids to provide a soundtrack to your meal, so best to pitch your time right (3-4 is maybe best) Beers are not... I have eaten here regularly over the years and unfortunately the old landlord has left. I ate in there recently and was really let down by the quality of the food. The menu is too simple and there is no quality. I won't be going again. It's a real shame.

Stayed here last night. Welcomed warmly by staff on arrival and shown to my room. Yes, it was quite small but it was a single and had everything I needed. Quite clean and comfortable. The shower was really warm and exactly what was needed. The breakfast in the morning was tasty and set up the day. Would stay there again... More

We are Australians on holiday in the UK and Europe. We stayed six nights at the Chequers pub as our friends live near by. We had no expectations and have never stayed in a B&B before. On meeting Colin and Gorry we were shown to our room and was pleasantly surprised to find a good sized room, clean and fresh.... More

I've never stayed in this pub so can't comment on the accommodation but I do frequent the premises quite often for food and to listen to the regular Saturday night music that is put on. The landlord and landlady are extremely friendly and know how to run a good pub. The food is always delightful and if you can't see... More
