Great village pub. Not massive menu choice - but great portion sizes and well cooked. Very friendly owner who are new. Large dining room, bar, plus outside tables to the front and rear. Very dog friendly. Near Hackfall woods - they let you park in their car park and right in the middle of Grewlthorpe which is a lovely village... More

We stayed in the Crown Inn after another hotel in Masham over-booked and had no room for us. Even though we originally wanted to be in Masham, we were lucky to be moved to such a lovely alternative and Grewelthorpe is a short car ride away. The rooms were cosy with lots of extras (fruit bowl, biscuits, fresh milk) and... More

We stopped here for lunch and were made to feel welcome. The sandwiches were very fresh and packed with good quality ham. A lovely country pub. There are tables outside and they are happy to let visitors park in the car park whilst visiting the nearby Hackfall woods. Dogs are also welcome.

Popped in here for a couple of pints towards the end of a long walk. Very welcoming (not always true in Yorkshire pubs!). Beer was good according to my beer drinking mates. Good pool table and a warm atmosphere at lunch-time. Nice, clean area to sit in at the front of the pub which gets the afternoon sun. Dog friendly... More

Just done a brilliant walk in Hackfall woods near Grewelthorpe, North Yorkshire. The bonus find was The Crown. Ample parking only half a mile from the start of the walk and a really good welcome for a drink and meal afterwards. Dog friendly, good food at a reasonable price and a typical Yorkshire welcome, what more can walkers ask for.... More

We went to the pub on the Saturday evening as we were staying at a campsite nearby. The pub was quiet however everyone was really welcoming and friendly. Bonus was that the pub is dog friendly too and he was also very welcomed. We has a steak and a steak pie both were very substantial and we enjoyed every bit.... More

We came here with friends for Sunday lunch and have to say we were pretty disappointed. While I think the pub is a great stop off for a pint for walkers, especially as it's dog friendly, the food leaves a lot to be desired. It was incredibly average and for £8 per person I think it was overpriced. The beef... More

Sue and Col have made a real go of it since taking over the Crown in November last year. We booked in for two nights, 15th/16th August and were made very welcome. The rooms were comfortable, welcoming and clean, with added extras of fruit and water. It was a little cool in the evening, so we were able to pop... More

I have been to the Crown twice in the last 10 days, once with friends and once with family. Both times after a walk in the gorgeous Hackfall Woods. We enjoyed the first visit so much we wanted to go back and it makes the perfect walk/pub stop/walk combo. The food was freshly prepared on both occasions and delicious. Service... More

Stopped for a meal after a busy day. Wonderful service. Superb food served within a reasonable time considering all the family wanted something different. Friendly staff. Will be going back and staying over next time. Lovely atmosphere. Lovely village, lots to see and great walks. We'll worth a visit.
