We came here with friends for Sunday lunch and have to say we were pretty disappointed. While I think the pub is a great stop off for a pint for walkers, especially as it's dog friendly, the food leaves a lot to be desired. It was incredibly average and for £8 per person I think it was overpriced. The beef... More

Sue and Col have made a real go of it since taking over the Crown in November last year. We booked in for two nights, 15th/16th August and were made very welcome. The rooms were comfortable, welcoming and clean, with added extras of fruit and water. It was a little cool in the evening, so we were able to pop... More

I have been to the Crown twice in the last 10 days, once with friends and once with family. Both times after a walk in the gorgeous Hackfall Woods. We enjoyed the first visit so much we wanted to go back and it makes the perfect walk/pub stop/walk combo. The food was freshly prepared on both occasions and delicious. Service... More

Stopped for a meal after a busy day. Wonderful service. Superb food served within a reasonable time considering all the family wanted something different. Friendly staff. Will be going back and staying over next time. Lovely atmosphere. Lovely village, lots to see and great walks. We'll worth a visit.

Lovely and welcoming is the best way to describe it! We arrived on a beautiful sunny day, there were already several tables taken out side and a few had already ordered food. We got a pint of their local beer and cider (very nice indeed) and perused the menu, my husband went for the steak pie and I finally decided... More

Met up with some friends whilst staying in Yorkshire. The beer was excellent, worth the visit in itself. The food, however, was shocking. My wife and I had steak, neither of us were able to work out what it was or how it was cooked! Worth a visit - but stick to the beer.

one word flabbergasted!!!!!! 2 tourists came today & mentioned trip advisor and a bad review could not believe what I saw, since taking over last November & starting food in late January we have not had a complaint about the steaks & no steaks have been returned untouched or partially eaten, if this customer had a problem of such magnitude... Following a long and muddy amble through Hackfell Woods we arrived at the Crown Inn in Grewelthorpe. A friendly welcome from Sue behind the bar was followed by a tasty Sunday lunch that sadly left no room for the spotted dick and custard! Next time as we will be back and hopefully with a less mucky dog. I'm not sure... More

We tried to have lunch here on a bank Holiday Monday. The pub was not particularly busy and we found a table very easily when we arrived. There were a couple of empty tables as well. We placed our food orders - nothing particulary taxing, just a veggie burger and a couple of spuds - and waited. And waited. After... More

The facts were that we had been very busy & were advising customers that there was awaiting time of approx. 45 mins ( in fact we had called aniother member of staff in at 1.00pm to try to quicken the process),. Since taking over the crown in November last year, the reviews have been excellent, we can only assume, in... More

The crown inn is a lovely place to visit, food was delicious and homely. Bed and breakfast room is very inviting. Owners Colin and sue was very friendly and catered to all our needs. Thank you for a great time. It's lovely to feel at home whilst staying away. See you again soon. Sarah and family.
