A few miles from the hurly burly of York, stands the Blacksmiths Arms Claire who is a great hostess. All meals are prepared by her and they are good value for money as well as being wonderfully cooked.especially that lovely steak and ale pie which was simmering away when we arrived. We had the biggest room of 3 I think.... More

Traditional pub with pleasant clean bedroom. Restaurant menu has an excellent selection of food with extra daily specials also available. Value for money. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent. Would stay again.

Traditional pub with good range of ales and other drinks and reasonable food. Locals very friendly and welcoming, as were the owners and staff. Rooms quirky and ok, nothing very special and quite hot and noisy. Breakfast was world class!

Ate here recently for the first time in years and was pleasantly surprised by the surroundings, service and quality of the food so much so that we will eat here again soon. The food was all home cooked and the quality and quantity was fist class. If you want an authentic country pub with good food look no further.

Having been many times here, it has never disappointed and is always first class in everyday. It is definitely the best place in the area and we would recommend to anyone who wants a great rural pub experience. The food is plentiful and expertly prepared and staff friendly and welcoming.

Had a lovely meal here with my wife. Lovely country pub, cosy, warm and excellent pub food. Steak was excellent and cooked exactly as requested. Also very good Theakston beers on, which is always a plus.

We went to the pub for an evening meal and cannot fault the food and friendly servic Four stars instead of five because the music was too loud, unsuitable and intrusive. The pub has a great atmosphere without the music. Turn down the volume to make the experience perfect please.
