We found this place by chance and found it to be a great little place for a nights stay.I thought it was called the Grove Ferry Inn, but might be wrong. With it being January it was obviously cold and wintry outside but the hotel was warm and cosy. It had a great rustic atmosphere and was apparently an old... More

Wow. What a wonderful place. Stayed one blustery night starting the New Year 2015 with my 2 boys. Stayed in room 5 family room. Beautiful room with lovely special touches like hot water bottle. Staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Beautiful rustic food & home made cookies which the boys loved. Very cosy & romantic. Breakfast all... More

my wife & I stayed at the Grove pantry pub for my birthday on the 28th December 2014. We always stay in a hotel for birthdays, anniversaries etc, and decided to stay at a more boutique quirky hotel than the big named hotels. On arrival the hotel looked great, quirky, quaint, boutique rooms, the noise coming through the floor from... More

Stayed here for one night on business and found a home from home - the staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. I had to have a couple of meetings with colleagues and I was advised where would be best to be private with good Wi-Fi and access to power sockets. Had dinner and breakfast - both delicious.... We stayed here for our first anniversary for four nights. We loved it and recommend it heartily. 1. The people Everyone we spoke to was very friendly, attentive and helpful. They all seem to really get on as well, which is good to see. 2. The food We had breakfast here four mornings in a row. Had the choice of... More

A wonderfully friendly and enthusiastic team who seem to thoroughly enjoy delivering excellent service. Serving good food from an interesting menu, The Grove as a venue sits delightfully at the quirky end of charming. We loved it and will be back.

Wonderful food, friendly staff, lovely rooms and a great location. Ideal place to stay if you want to visit Canterbury being ten minutes from the center of town. Highly recommended to all, had a fantastic two night stay and will definitely return.

I appreciate Sunday lunch is going to be busy but to wait 1hour for your food is pretty poor. It took 20 mins of queuing just to order the food, which arrived without a knife and fork which resulted in another trip to the bar! Leftovers of the table's previous occupants resided on our table until our food arrived. The... More

The owners are clearly trying to do something different, and mostly succeeding. The bar/restaurant area is wonderful, the whole ambience and enthusiasm of the staff is really lovely. With a little more investment and addressing the issues others have mentioned in reviews on other sites, it could move up a notch. My issues/observations which management could I hope constructively engage... More
