This b&b is now under new management. Give it a go. Amazing food, clean and lovely landlords. Always doing great deals. Lovely large family rooms. Stay for the weekend, week day or even a week. You will never get bored of looking at this beautiful old building. Search the website for more info.

The restaurant was disgusting there was 2 large dogs walking around the dining room. My chicken dish was £11 and raw. My mother and brother in law were served warm prawns which made them both sick. The proprietor was rude and abrasive to say the least even though we didn't complain about our meal. What we thought was going to... More

Booked here due to a special offer and the need for a place to stay before setting off to catch a ferry at the crack of dawn the next morning. Lovely little pub, cosy and warm although a bit empty (admitedly, it was Wednesday night in February). Food was lovely. Ample portions, well cooked and we managed a BOGOF offer... More

The price was reasonable (out of season special offer) however it smelt like people where smoking in the bar (ok it was cold outside but family establishment/illegal?). I was given the wrong room from which I requested and I was locked in the morning!! The people that run the BandB do not stay on the site and I needed to... More

Whilst the rooms are adequate and the food and service quite good what they dont tell you is that the bedrooms are directly above the bar and their function room. We stayed for Friday and Saturday evenings and on both nights the noise was awful and went on into the small hours, the "music" on Friday night was so loud... More

Food was good both evening meal and breakfast but they need to decide whether they want to party or have paying guests. Two couples from our party were kept awake by loud music, loud talking and doors banging when we retired for the night. Don't stay here if you want a quiet weekend break.

We stayed here for 3 nights B&B. It is a beautiful black and white character building, wonky walls, low ceilings, lovely wooden beams. Super garden, safe for kids as enclosed and dog friendly too. Nice sitting room area with magazines put out and a lovely olde worlde bar area. Our bedroom was a small double room with slanted ceilings and... More

Just come back from a wedding and spent a lovely night in this bed and breakfast. Staff were very friendly and the rooms were very clean. Breakfast was cooked to perfection too. Nothing was too much trouble. Would go back again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The "Black Pig" at Staple - one of the most interesting public houses and satisfying restaurants in the area - is the only hostelry so named in Great Britain. This fact comes from licensed trade historian, Roy Denison. He has just been delving into the interesting past of the "Black Pig," where Philip Aunger presides. The "Black Pig" says Mr. Denison, was the last public house in Kent to brew its own beers. The Black Pig is a family run Inn, Freehouse, Restaurant & B&B; situated on the edge of the village of Staple, Kent. It is a fine old 15th Century, timbered building, with a large garden and ample parking. The building has a very interesting history, and was constructed from the timbers of local shipwrecks (Wrecked off the coast in the year 1588). ... more   less
