We.ve just come back from a wedding held at the Duke of Cumberland. I love this place, great value, really good food, and above all genuine hard working lovely people. Nothing to fault, there's even a pair of adorable labradors! Fab place..try it out!

After being let down, by another local hotel, late in the afternoon, last August, we were very lucky to discover this historic pub/restaurant Bed and breakfast. It is located in a pretty village, near Canterbury, Kent. The owners went out of their way to fit us in, despite hosting an event for a local cycle club. The historic building was dripping... More

Stayed one night following a local family party. Charming country pub. Comfy, warm bed. All very clean. Great full English breakfast included. Wifi in the room which was a pleasant surprise. Friendly and helpful staff.

Agree with all the good/not so good points made in post 'Beautiful Barham' - which the Inn and the village indeed is, (upto a point, it's certainly charming.) 'Number 1' family room is suitably period and spacious enough with a recently refurbed ensuite, finished in a slightly ramshackle style - presumably to match. Everything was clean, the food faultless and... More

Easy to book by phone. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food. Clean and well appointed rooms - I stayed in two different rooms during 6 day stay. Owner was very helpful and accommodating but not overbearing. Quirky as mentioned by previous reviewer - outside pub hours, because of the alarm, one has to enter and exit via fire escape. I'm... We stayed on a Sunday night 'en route' to Dover and chose this pub with rooms having read previous reviews. Unfortunately, the full dinner menu is not available on Sunday nights and we had to make do with the very ordinary restricted list of offerings. Our room was comfortable and clean (although we were a bit suspicious of the bathroom... More

good parking and friendly welcome. Double room was modest size but comfortable, with tea/coffee facilities. We ate in the restaurant and this was the highlight, as meal was excellent - and breakfast too. Ideal location as a stay over ready for an early ferry crossing, although a lovely part of Kent and would warrant a longer stay.

Friendly pub with outstanding food and beer. The rooms are perfect for an overnight / short stay. Unique, clean and comfortable. Landlord very friendly and ensured we had a table for dinner at short notice despite being fully booked with diners.

I booked this pub for an overnight stay prior to a friend's wedding in Canterbury. The pub is located in a beautiful Kent village just outside of Canterbury. Was made to feel very welcome from the minute I arrived - the family who own this place are extremely hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and... More

Our visit was primarily overnight as part of a walking trip on the North Downs Way and a visit to Canterbury. The Duke of Cumberland provided an ideal overnight stay. Very convenient for either the local bus to Canterbury or taking the car to the Park & Ride. Made very welcome on arrival by the owner and enjoyed the stay... More
