I has a one night stay 21/22 November 2013. I was visiting family in Walsingham where my ancestors came from and as I travelled by bus decided to stay overnight. Booked in to the Old Bakehouse only, very easy to do. On arrival I was welcomed very warmly by Richard "mine host", and was pleasantly surprised by the lovely log... More

A wonderful B & B with just about everything supplied in a very comfortable room - even a foot spa. Breakfast - pre-ordered the night before - is really first class with such upper markey items like Wilkins Tiptree preserves on the table. Interesting pictures, books, curios and odd items for sale. A most friendly host to whom nothing is... More

I have just returned from an eight night stay at The Old Bakehouse. I have been staying here regularly for thirty years - eight years with the present owners. The accommodation is excellent. The rooms are spotlessly clean and replenished daily with fresh milk, biscuits and bottles of water. There is always a supply of means of making tea, coffee... More

Just back from my second visit to The Old Bakehouse this year, having been many times in the past. As always, it was excellent. Richard is a genuinely kind host, always with a ready smile. The breakfasts are well cooked and the rooms of a very high standard. There are numerous nice touches, and the themed rooms give a nice... More

A warm welcome from Richard, who was thoroughly pleasant throughout our stay and cooked a good breakfast. Agree with with one reviewer who said carpets could have been cleaner. We had plenty of nice fresh towels, fresh milk for tea and other nice touches. On our second night the was a lot of noise from the room above from 1... More

I booked this guest house as we were visiting relatives locally and it says it has 4 stars (I have subsequently searched the AA site and cannot find The Old Bakehouse on there) We arrived around 7.30 in the evening and as soon as the door was opened to us there was an extremely strong smell of dogs, upstairs the... The couple who made this review were shown to their room and made no reference to any "smell". When entering their room the lady said "What a lovely room!" At no time during their stay did they make any complaint or negative comments. They left a note on the evening of their first night saying they would leave "first thing... More

Stopped off for a lunch here, and was impressed by the homemade soup and bread, also the delicious cake. A good variety of teas make this a good find, with pleasant owner and nice surroundings. Obviously, a lot of people visit the shrine, but we found it too high church for us. The rest of the village is pleasant, and... More

We enjoyed our stay here very much - the rooms are a good size, extremely well equipped, and the hosts really helpful. Breakfast offers a large selection. Stay couldn't have been more pleasant, and excellent value for money. Walsingham a lovely mediaeval village, busy during the day with pilgrims and visitors, quiet at night, and a reasonable choice of places... More

My wife and I had tickets to go to the Thursford Spectacular Show and decided to stay over and are we glad we did. We arrived to a friendly welcome at The Old Bakehouse and a roaring fire. Our room was large with two armchairs and nicely furnished, very well equipped with absolutely everything you can think of, including dressing... More
