We spent a week in July at Forge Cottage on Nettlecombe Farm and it was fantastic. The cottage was spotless, comfortable, kitchen well stocked with utensils, barbecue facilities in garden and it was simply a lovely place to stay. My children (12 and 10) enjoyed staying on the farm very much - especially spending time each morning with the farmer... More

We are just coming to the end of a perfectly amazing 2nd visit to this farm. From the comfy beds, to the kitchen stocked with everything you need, to the "Meet the Farmer" mornings to the chance for my only child to play with other children at the farm's own playpark. I shall miss waking up to the sound of... More

This was our 3rd visit to Nettlecombe Farm and it was just as good as the prevoius visits. The children love the freedom to play. We stayed in Wheat and the house was exceptionally clean when we arrived and well equipped. Cannot wait to return again soon.

Just returned home from a few days in "Swallow" with friends while visiting family on the island. Plenty of space for everyone. Freedom for the children in a safe environment and plenty to occupy them in the way of animals to look at and play areas for little ones as well as those a bit older. I couldn't fault the... More

Grandparents, parent, dog and two pre-schoolers all had a wonderful time at Nettlecombe Farm. It was a brilliant location with loads to do for everyone. Children adored the feeding time with Farmer John; he was excellent at managing the animals and them at the same time! Fishing lakes were great for Grandad. Dog loved garden and loads of beautiful walks.... More

We have just returned from a week at Nettlecoombe and loved it. It was our first visit to the farm and found the accommodation and facilities well equipped, Josie is lovely and very helpful and farmer john was wonderful during the morning animal feeds. I would recommend this to anyone with young kids.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nettlecombe Farm has been in the Morris family for over a century, and you'll still meet us around the farm today. In the heart of the rolling Isle of Wight countryside, our farm is at the top of a quiet lane half a mile from the sleepy village of Whitwell. Surrounded by green fields and lakes, our luxurious self-catering holiday accommodation is not only safe and comfortable for visitors of all ages and abilities, it's also the perfect base to explore the farm with its friendly animals - or the Islands wider countryside and scenic coastline. Visitors are welcome to explore the farm and meet the animals, and there's plenty of fun to be had at any time of the year. In the Rickyard there is a wide variety of livestock to make friends with - usually chickens, geese, turkeys, pigs, goats, rabbits and even our reindeer ‘Comet & Dancer’. In springtime orphan lambs sometimes need feeding with milk, which can be messy but is always popular! When the kids need to let off steam there is a range of grassed play areas, toddlers play equipment, a big Wendy house, our fabulous wooden tractor and a rustic climbing play facility. For the older children there is a sports area ideal for all sorts of games and football. Our three fully-stocked fishing lakes and of course the farm and nearby countryside is full of places to explore, walk and cycle, and Nettlecombe is a dog-friendly farm too. You might be tempted to enjoy some relaxing yoga at one of our sessions in the modern function barn. Our beautiful rural setting is quiet and secluded, but it's easy to use the farm as a base to explore the beautiful island that is our home. Explore Queen Victoria's country retreat at Osborne House, see where King Charles I was imprisoned at Carisbrooke Castle, or just marvel at the spectacular Needles. Beaches are especially easy to reach from Nettlecombe Farm, from the dramatic shoreline at Compton to the miles of golden sands and seaside amusements at Sandown and Shanklin. We think you will love this part of the Isle of Wight as much as we do. The passing of the seasons and the changing landscape make Nettlecombe Farm worth visiting at any time of year and we are happy to offer short breaks for out of season guests visiting between October & May. We look forward to welcoming you to Nettlecombe Farm... ... more   less
