The first impression of this hotel is the friendliness of the staff & the warm welcome. We were shown to a beautiful room with an open fire & a large bathroom. We were offered dinner which was a five star experience in a beautiful oak paneled dining room, the breakfast was equally good with everything cooked fresh. We definitely will... More

Idyllic stay in a property of real character, wonderful friendly staff. Beautifully prepared delicious food. Great rooms with all the benefit of working fireplaces for the colder evenings. Peaceful rural location. It doesn't come much better than this.

Just back from an overnight stay as a birthday treat. We had a fabulous meal with the tasting menu, two of us with wine and one not. Nine courses in all because the chef added a few extras. Great combination of flavours, beautifully presented, explained and served. These included Guinea fowl and venison. Scott was very attentive and helpful. Our... More

We've stayed at Ardtara a few times. A quick look on the hotel's website will show that it is a lovely period building with sumptuous rooms and lovely relaxing gardens. However, you really need to stay there to understand that they have managed to achieve something quite special here. Quite simply, the staff are amazing. There are 101 hotels out... More

From the minute we first visited Ardtara to scope out locations for our wedding we fell in love with it. We had visited several times before our wedding on the 18th Dec and had high expectations but I can truly say that these were blown out of the water on the day. The house looked amazing with all the Christmas... More

Our stay was a little disappointing because of the room having no wifi (even though the hotel says wifi is available) and the television was very old and dated. The rooms were also quite cold but that didnt last long because of the nice gas fire that we were able to light. The restaurant is fantastic, chef is brilliant, our... More

We booked four rooms for a family birthday, not knowing quite what to expect from the reviews, but the leaflet in Brown’s in Town where we had lunch made us curious. On the way to Upperlands, we stumbled across the Christmas market in Friel's in Swatragh, which will go down in family history, particularly the bucking bronco disguised as a... More

Just returned from a meal in Ardtara with friends who are regulars. What a disappointment. It took 2 hrs to get to the main course and when it arrived, all four meals were cool. Even on re-heating, they were still not hot. The menu was limited and the quality of cuts not great for the price £19.95/mains and £34.95 for... More
