From the moment you walk into Ardtara it is like being welcomed into someone's home. Valerie shakes hands with you and somehow remembers your Christian names for the entire stay! Room was homely in a genteel way but had everything required for a good stay including a working gas fire if required. The food was delicious and extremely well presented.... More

Great house in lovely grounds. recently has seen some investment allowing a good clear-up all round since our last visit. This was very welcome. We were on a bit of a tour round and this was the most expensive stop on our trip. We were very well looked after throughout our stay. we were the only guests and the atmosphere... More

....Or at least has the potential to be - the Destination Dining experience Northern Ireland has waited for. Everyone who knows me, knows I love our regular jaunts to Northern Ireland. Everyone who knows me, knows I love good food. When both merge into a wonderful 2 night break - it's a definitive bonus. Having read about the numerous recent... More

As a party of four, we reserved two rooms for dinner, bed and breakfast (July/6/2015). Both rooms; one a superior and the other a standard room were beautifully furnished with period furniture and decorated accordingly. The ambiance in the dinning room was one of luxury, with low lighting, candles and wood panelled walls. The service was excellent and attentive. However,... More

Having stayed at the Ardtara twice last year, and both times having an excellent experience, I was looking forward to a repeat performance. The hotel, the staff, the rooms were indeed excellent, Valerie is amazing! The food was disappointing, our table chose the beef and duck dishes, they were both tough, slightly cold, and the vegetables, Jus etc... poorly presented.... More

This was the perfect spot for our family get-together. One of the reasons for choosing it was because we had family travelling from Donegal and Belfast so it seemed to make sense to find somewhere in the middle! The sun was shining when we arrived, so we started our afternoon with outside drinks, enjoying the beautiful garden and surrounded by... More

The location was beautiful and easy to find. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Valerie and she showed us to our lovely room. She was/is a splendid host and most accomodating, friendly and professional. A credit to Ardtara. Our Room (Room 8 upstairs) was spotless and one which has been recently refurbished was lovely and furnished with authentic... More

We recently stayed at Ardtara House for a chilled and relaxed overnight with dinner. I totally understand that the new owners have only been there a short time but they seem to have concentrated on the food offer and are perhaps slow to upgrade the hotels decor both in the rooms and public areas. I understand that 3 rooms have... More

This house is under new management and I liked the new manager and the person who also works full time very much. We did not meet Valerie who apparently had been the previous manager. But, in our opinion, they just haven't figured things out. We always had to ask for hot water and the gas fire place was a little... More
