This B&B is handy for Leighton Moss RSPB reserve, as well as the coast at Arnside and Silverdale. The Hall retains its spendour and has a beautiful garden. Country footpaths start from the Hall, including a Natural England bridleway to Hawes Water. We had the double room with ensuite which was very comfortable and quiet. We were offered the use... My husband and I arrived on 8 April for a 2 night stay. After a gruelling 6 hour journey we were warmly greeted with tea and delicious homemade banana cake in the lounge. The room has a beautiful scenic view complete with rare breed ponies last seen (by me) as a Lascaux prehistoric cave painting. What a welcome! Our hosts... More

My husband Bob and I visited for 2 nights at Easter weekend as we wanted to go to Leighton Moss which is only a short distance away. Our hosts were wonderful, very friendly and helpful and even made us tea and toasted hot cross buns on arrival. The breakfast was superb and the room very clean and comfortable. If you... More

The B&B is well-situated - we used it for a stopover on the way north to Scotland. Far better than a budget hotel in Carlisle or Preston, the drive from the M6 was about 15 min. It is also on the edge of the Lake District and would be a good base for exploring that area as well as the... More

I stayed at Challan hall some time ago, as a touring cyclist. However I remember quite clearly how well I was treated and how pleasant the experience. A nice country position as well. Highly reccommended.

Excellent place to stay. We enjoyed a short break with a couple of friends and did a bit of bird watching at nearby Leighton Moss. Challan Hall is a first class place to stay. We recommend taking up the dinner option which was as you may expect delicious.

We stayed for 3 nights at Challan Hall with our 2 children aged 4 & 2 years. On arrival we were very concerned that the house would not be child friendly as there were beautiful ornaments and tea cups on many surfaces, however I needn't have worried. Mike and Charlotte made us all extremely welcome and had gone to the... More

Challan Hall enjoys a wonderful situation overlooking the original Lake Haweswater right in the heart of this area of outstanding natural beauty. Conveniently located on the edge of the Lake District, Challan Hall is near to Lake Windemere and Lake Conniston; also Morcombe Bay and the Lune Valley. Charlotte and Mike are great hosts and their accommodation very elegant. The... More

We're from Yorkshire but know this area pretty well, having visited on many occasions over the past 30 years, camping and latterly, caravanning. Having an avid interest in the ornithological and lepidoptera of the area, Challan Hall makes a splendid 'centrally' located base within this rich area of wildlife, with the excellent RSPB Leighton Moss reserve only about a mile... We chose Challan Hall for a three night stay because of its location with a view across to Hawes Water and direct access to Gait Barrows Nature Reserve. The RSPB reserve Leighton Moss is also close by. We were not disappointed. Charlotte and Mike were delightful hosts who went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Breakfasts were... More
