We traveled to Rhodes via the spectacular Pitseng / Pitsing road having started in Kokstad and then going via Matatiele (on the R53) then via Mount Fletcher and then took the Pitsing dirt road to the Naudes Nek pass. Agree with earlier review. The hotel has the makings of a wonderful destination but the atmophere is gloomy, unwelcoming and the food is very expensive and pretty awful.Eating or staying there is really dismal. In contrast Walkerbouts is great and the Rubicon Resaurant was good.

Stunning location with breathtaking views of the mountain . Filled with character you would expect lots of charm and warmth from an old hotel like this one...just a pity it did not meet the standards. The food was terrible and overpriced. You are presented with the bill while you are still eating!!
